Predict the Starters

Re: Predict the starters

Judging from our boy Petey's article, get ready for a bunch of starting lineups...

Thanks for posting, Stikboy!

Interesting that Jamuni was the forgotten man last year, and now he's being talked about as a potential starter. Even if he doesn't get the nod, he has obviously come a long way the past few weeks.

One of the things I like the most about this team are the multiple pieces our coaches have to work with. I think it's safe to say at least nine players could see the starting lineup at some point this season.

Re: Predict the starters

Derek Peterson changed his prediction for the starter at the 4 for from Buford to Doolittle. He said Doolittle has been playing that good in practices, so I guess the 5 that CoachTalk named when he started this thread is looking good. It's going to be "sneaky" good on the boards .... better than they look on paper. 6'9" Lattin iand 6'7" Doolittle in the post, and 6'6" Odomes and 6'4" James on the wing. Doolittle, James, and Odomes are all thick and able to play very physical. Some have suggested James could lead the B12 guards in rebounding. Lattin is probably the most athletic 5 in the league.

Buford and McNeace are very capable post backups along with Freeman. I'm guessing Strong and McGusty round out the top 10 in the rotation. Sheperd is also a serious contender for minutes.

I'd love to RS Shep. Staff is disappointed in themselves for not RS Odomes last year. But saying that, if we need shep then let's use him. If strong is just as good then let's use him.

Re: Predict the starters

I've been wondering if the size in that lineup will be an issue. But 6-9, 6-7, 6-6, 6-4 isn't the worst thing in the world, especially if James and Odomes are beast rebounders. Three years ago the 5 and 4 were 6-8 Spangler and 6-6 Clark. If Odomes, James, and Doolittle rebound like people say they can, along with Lattin of course, then it should be good. Only issue might be when we play a large team like Texas and post defense. We'll see.

Re: Predict the starters

For those that attend practice: Has there been any work with a zone defense?

Re: Predict the starters

And this team is picked to finish 6th in the B12??

Guerin Emig tweeted out today that, if the season started today, Doolittle would be the 5th starter ahead of Buford. Sounds like he's been really impressive so far.
