Probably a sore subject, but....

That may have happened, but I didn't see it. I would be interested to see a link if anyone has one. I remember the the NCAA setting up camp in Waco, but I didn't remember anything big coming out of it. I just get tired of all fan bases assuming a player was paid just because they chose a different school.

But this isnt the story i was thinking of... I may be dreaming...

Not as bas as what was mentioned. AAU loans to Jones Mother made him ineligible for the end of his last year at Baylor.

I think most every team cheats. If your not pushing the line your not going to win. I just don't want my team to blow way past the line. It's like driving, I don't mind people driving 5 mph over the speed limit, but I don't want people driving 50 mph over in a school zone.

As the "OP" - I was just hoping maybe there were other answers involved with Clark's change in attitude towards OU. It did seem rather sudden.

Not crazy about all the cheating accusations going back and forth. But, it's not like we've never heard the "OU cheats" charges flying pretty much every year during football recruiting season, from the wearers of orange (both shades), either.

Many OU fans on here were referencing him from what I remember.

vbdad(sp?) is the dude that originated the whole 'Kruger backed off because he didn't want to play games and OSU was willing to pay" crap.

I'll find the thread with the comments. Ever since then, it's been sour grapes rehearsing that comment

I don't know that OSU is paying Stevie or his family anything. I do know that Coach Kruger tried very hard to recruit him and had visits with Stevie and his mom. I also know that he made the decision to pull the scholarship offer from him before Stevie put a top 5 out!

FYI Nash is the half brother of Eaton not his cousin.

Methinks that those that combine OSU and $$$ in the same sentence are getting close to the truth.

Right. Because 3-4 OU fans constantly claiming that OSU is cheating is a huge red flag.

Funny that nobody else in the conference ever mentions OSU being dirty.

It probably doesn't have anything to do with in-state rivalry or anything.

You're right. When the NCAA found Ford guilty of buying players he surpassed Kelvin as a dirty coach

Kelvin was not a dirty coach. He made one extra phone call a week. Every coach in America did/does that.

Andre Williams was on the radio when this came out and laughed about it saying that Eddie Sutton called him all the time, way over the limit.
The ncaa went after Sampson because he wouldn't apologize for it.

Was that one extra phone call each week to every recruit in the country?:p

What's funny about this is I read (not sure if true) is that Sutton was the one that turned in Sampson. What's even funnier is that Sutton was not allowed to recruit off campus for a time (I don't remember the reason) and yet Obi Muenelo (sp) talked publicly about what an honor it was to have coach Eddie Sutton in his living room.

Do I think these are big deals? Not really, but it's funny that few coaches have been treated with kid gloves like Sutton has been treated in his tenure at OSU and after his career was over.

It's sad he had a drinking problem and the plane crash and aftermath would tax anyone's ability to cope. But after he stumbled and stammered around Stillwater for years, it took him almost killing someone for something to be done. Of course, Sean couldn't help him cause he had his own demons to deal with. Sad.
