I was told by a source that Karron Johnson was kicked off his team. Can anyone confirm?

With OU beating OSU in bedlam yet again, it will be a week before an OSU fan comes on this board.

A football loss wouldn't keep me away from here. I don't go to OU football boards anyways, it's like throwing chum in the water.

I haven't heard anything on Johnson. He played in the last game that Njcaa.org has stats for (on the 20th), and the Midland website is down right now. Or I just can't connect.

Wouldn't surprise me if true though.

Haven't heard one way or the other. Karron Johnson to me is a lot like Santa Claus. I'll believe in him when I see him.

Yeah, I'm also not going to shy away just because our football team punches me in the stomach for like the 100,000th time.

:)

As for Karron Johnson, who knows...

I'm a lot like PokeJ... I'll believe he's ever going to play for OSU when I actually see him in uniform on court during a game.

I heard from another source that he is indeed out at Midlands. Midlands seems to spread their scoring out and he was only averaging 9pts. Wonder if that has anything to do with it?

I don't think many OSU fans are getting their hopes up with Karron. If this is indeed the reason he was kicked off then OSU may not be the place for him. Nash is expecting to have the ball in his hands a lot and I don't want two players fighting over shots. That said he is a great talent and if he could keep it together for one or two years he might be worth a shot.

I've had my doubts about this guy all along... just way too many red flags.

If this report is indeed true, then I don't care how good he is... I don't want him near our team next year.

OSU has the chance to be pretty darn good next year, I don't want any kind of chemistry killers around messing things up to the tune of what happened to OU last season.

the osu scout site is reporting that karron johnson has been suspended

here is the free portion of the article:

Karron Johnson has been suspended indefinitely from the Midland (Texas) College basketball team after playing in just nine games, assistant coach Jamaal Greene told GoPokes.com on Monday evening. The 6-8, 225-pound Johnson is considered by many to be the top junior college player in the country and he signed two weeks ago with Oklahoma State during the early signing period.

Off-topic, but Jeff with the exodus of OUI, which OU boards will you be trolling now? ;)

I'm not a fan of the 247OU board... Going to take me awhile to get used to.

And to echo the prevailing thought on the board, it'd probably be best if Ford cut his losses with Johnson... Seems to be too much trouble.

Yeah - I'm not sure... I haven't really found anything that I like so far.

I'm with you on the 247 Board... I just can't get into it.

I don't really care for SoonerFans.com either.

Then there's that sort of new one that seems to be trying to be like ShaggyBevo. (Can't remember the name off the top of my head...)

None of them seem to be as interesting and/or as easy to use as OUI.

I'm just glad this place is around... best place to discuss Big 12 hoops on the Internets, IMO. :)

Yes.

Maybe I don't understand coaching or the team dynamic. But if Johnson can graduate and make it to OSU. I say let him on. With the caveat that one screw up and you're gone.

OSU is deep enough now that they can kick him off if he's trouble. This isn't like when Monds and Boggan were running the show with Sean. Kick those two guys off and you've got Adarius Bowman and Tyler Hatch playing 30 minutes a game.

But we're not talking about one or two transgressions. This is who he is.

I'm with HoHum on this one. Bring him in, if he screws up kick him to the curb. This is unless you can find a quality player to use his scholly on in the spring. I'm just not a fan of holding on to his scholly till next year or giving it to someone that will never play.

But, the reward is so great. And if he screws up, boot him, and you're back to square one and still have pretty solid post depth.

I say keep recruiting, but if you don't find anyone that can play, then give him a chance.

Well - like I said, I'm just worried about it adversly affecting the team chemistry.

It's easy to say "well, if he screws up, just boot him off the team"... but what if he gets close with a couple of players before he's booted... then you get several guys who are pissed because he's gone -- others who are glad that he's gone -- and then there you go.

Team chemistry is ruined.

We'll have plenty of post depth next year. I wouldn't risk it.

Agree, it's one thing to say you're going to kick him to the curb...doesn't mean he has to leave Stillwater. Would still be around through the end of a semester if he wanted.

One thing I'm wondering about... and maybe some of you recruiting expert types can help...

Can a school just rescend an LOI?

Karron Johnson has already signed his LOI to play with OSU... can the school just revoke it if Ford decides that Johnson will be too much trouble?

It's seems like that would sort of be B.S. if a school can just get out of it... kind of like when players are stuck with their LOI when a coach leaves...

Anybody know?

As us sooner fans know, team chemistry is everything

For sure. The same thing happened to OSU in the 2005-06 season when Boggan and Monds decided that they were too good to practice.
