does 180 and signs with agent to enter draft. this after just days ago saying he was returning. How does this change Baylor for next year? I thought he was very getting very good toward the end of the year.

His agent? None other than Dwon Clifton, who was hired by Baylor a few years ago to try and get John Wall.

So, in other news Kansas is going to win the Big 12 again......

To me this is a big loss to Baylor. They have now lost 4 of their top 6 players in Perry Jones III (starter), Acey (Starter), Miller (Starter) and Anthony Jones (6th man) A Baylor fan may correct me on calling Anthony Jones the 6th man because AJ Watlon played more minutes but I think that was due to starting in the begging of the year - I could be wrong about that.

Some of the OU fans will be quick to argue Baylor has better recruits coming in but I think OU can and should finish ahead of Baylor next season. OU will have a front court with a lot more D-1 experience.

Huge mistake IMO. This kid could have gone in the top 10 if he came back for another year and proved to be the go to guy next year. I haven't seen any draft projections lately..but I doubt he's in the Top 10 on many of them for this year's draft.

We could finish ahead of them but I doubt it. They took a huge blow with this but they still have a lot of talent on that team. Austin is going to be huge presence down low to go along with Jefferson, Morgan and Gathers. Bello started playing better towards the end of the season and he has a huge upside. They have a ton of PGs that would all start for us...and leading that charge is Jackson.

this is interesting for Baylor. Offensively it is a blow. It may make them a better defensive team. Perry Jones and Quincy Miller were Baylor's worst defensive players by a large margin. Brady Heslip doesn't have the tools to be a great defender but he tries.

Those minutes will be spread among Cory Jefferson, Deuce Bello, Ricardo Gathers and Isaiah Austin. Time will tell if that is a bad thing. Miller was being benched in crunch time due to his defense. When Baylor started playing better at the end of the season they were playing AJ Walton and Deuce Bello instead of Quincy Miller and the team played better overall. Quincy Acy is the much bigger loss of the 4 guys mentioned. He will be hard to replace.

I equate Quincy Miller to Willie Warren in many ways- prima donnas. That gets old and can hurt a locker room. I think the argument is true that more exposure can lead to more exposure. And that is not always good for draft stock. For example, 2nd time through the big12 Quincy Miller averaged a little over 7 points and 4 rebounds on 35% shooting and 1 assist for every two turnovers. If that trend continued, he would be wise to go pro if there were some assurances of a first round pick.

I hope he does well. Risky move either way- tough position for kids to be in especially when they are pulled in so many directions.

Freaking Kansas wins the Big XII again, this time by default :facepalm

Oddly enough, both Baylor's big time prospects hurt themselves by making the opposite choice. PJIII would have gone higher in last year's draft but decided to come back, and Q Miller needs another year to show scouts what he can do, but he bolted.

I still don't understand why so many people are picking OU so high. Outside of beating K-State twice, the rest of the year OU couldn't beat any good teams. We still rank in the bottom 3rd of the Big 12.11.10 etc til we can beat good teams on a consistent level.
Thankfully MU is gone, 2 losses, to be replaced by TCU, maybe 2 wins.
I hope OU will get over 500% next year. That might be something of an accomplishment.

I don't know if you know this about basketball, but returning players have the ability to improve and new players can be better than the players that left. This can result in a team being better than they were in previous years.

You Lie. All players are as good as they ever will be and replacements will be just as good as guys that are leaving. At least thats what I have been told

Unless someone comes out of nowhere for them, their players for next year are:

C - Austin
F - Jefferson
F - Gathers
F - Bello
G - Jackson
G - Heslip
G - Walton
G - Rose

That's not terrible talent, but they will have to rely heavily on true freshmen in the front court. I've never seen that Wykhoek dude play but I don't think he'll contribute much his 1st year.

Yeah- Rykhoek is going to redshirt I would bet. He's not ready. They do have Bobo Morgan that redshirted last year. He was a top 25 talent coming out of high school but his first two years at UCLA were disappointing to put it mildly and he transferred to Baylor. He's been playing well in practice but he doesn't have very good court sense to be brutally honest. I think he's 10-15 minutes a game and they use him like they used Lomers. He has a 7'5" wingspan so he can give them some interior defense and some buckets on the blocks.

I see Baylor going a lot of 3-guard lineup with Walton, Jackson and Heslip. They started doing that 2nd half of the Texas game in Austin. They were down 36-26 at half and playing terrible. They went 3 guard and offensively things started improving for them. They scored 51 against Texas 2nd half. The biggest surprise in the 3 guard lineup for Baylor was Brady Heslip's production. Went from 7 ppg in the B12 to 13.

I think it is because Walton does a lot of little things that doesn't show up on box scores, like screens really well. That seemed to open some things up for Heslip and the offense played much better from that point forward.

Against KSU and KU in the B12 tourney, Baylor played Walton, Heslip and Jackson over 30 minutes each and won both those games in hostile territory. Miller on the other hand was on the bench more down the stretch because although he is a lot better offensive player than AJ Walton, AJ Walton does just about everything else better than Miller including rebounding.

;)

tell drew to send me a small consulting fee and i can help convince him to use his best lineup 20 games earlier this year.

I forgot you advised that- great call! It can be a nightmare on the boards because those 3 guards are all 6'2" and under. But Pierre Jackson and Walton rebound well for their size.
