I feel Lon is a good coach. But it was very difficult to watch yesterday when it seemed the Oklahoma players just quit on him. It's a shame that we can't get the rest of the players to play as hard as Rashard Odomes.

Odoms was upset he wasn't getting more time on the court. 1st half he was our best player and played so few minutes.

He's like the only onebthat seems like when we are down he tries to kick butt...and hustles.

Id play him most of the game on that alone.

If Odomes warrants more run your team is in shambles

I'd play him at least as much as James. In many of the games where we have played especially terrible, RO has been the one guy finding a way to score for us.

Calixte is just a better basketball player and should start over Odomes, BUT Calixte is also 1-16 from the field, 24-25min the last two games. Odomes 7-13 zero turnovers and averaging 17-18min a game.

If Calixte isn't shooting it well he shouldn't play.. He doesn't provide great defense or create a ton for others. Odomes will help rebound and play hard on the defensive end at least.

Lon should be able to see this and adjust.

Rashard Odomes .. With better coaching he would be a better player.

I couldn’t agree more, Traveler! I think Rashard had a chance to be a big time player at OU with better coaching. Here’s a post I made several weeks ago on this topic. It makes no sense to me thst he came to OU with multiple skills on offense, but he’s leaving as a “one trick pony,” to quote some of the posts we have seen the last three years.

I honestly believe our coaches not only made a mistake by limiting Rashard’s game to a drive only player on offense, somebody messed with his shot until he struggles with free throws now. Unfortunately, we’ll never know how good he could have been with the right kind of coaching.

Rashard Odomes was a prolific scorer coming out of high school. He could score from anywhere on the floor, including from three point range. As I recall, he averaged around 48% from three his senior season at Copperas Cove.

He was the Texas MVP in the annual Faith Seven All-Star game. Shooting free throws was not a problem for him back then. He made 9 of 10 (90%) free throws in that game (see his stats below). Now, he struggles to make half of the shots he takes. Actually, it’s even worse, his current average is 36%.

What happened to the recruit who could score in so many ways when he arrived on OU’s campus? Did our coaches fail Rashard by trying to change his shot, or by limiting his role to a drive only player, or did he do it to himself by not continuing to work on his perimeter game and his shooting stroke?

We may never know the answer to those questions. I just feel bad for the kid and I will hate to see him go. By all accounts, he has accepted his role on the team without complaint. He’ll be missed next season!

I've always been a big fan of Odomes because he at least tries hard, but what he did Saturday was inexcusable. If I were Lon, I wouldn't have put him back in. Totally disrespected Lon in public, and that should NEVER happen.

I turned the game off a little early, what did Odomes do?

lol..true on MOST teams...at this point I'd take his hustle and heart.

As much as I think...no, no, no...on most of his drives...he ends up scoring..crazy.

I watched the whole thing...except maybe 2 min due to doing laundry...what did he do? I didn't see anything....

Any more than Manek getting pissed at a no call and not hustling back?

I agree, ya can't disrespect a coach BUT I'd be a little pissed myself if every time I go in I hustle, score (yes he makes stupid mistakes as well) all the while the deficit in the score seems to widen when I'm not in.

Just my 2 cents, which don't mean jack~

Your two cents means jack to me! I would like to know what Rashard did too? Like you, I didn’t see anything.

I definitely agree that players should never disrespect a coach, and that includes the assistants. It’s also easy to understand why these blowouts on our own floor can be frustrating for our players.

Some may say, well they need to play harder, play better defense. To that I say, our coaches need to earn their pay by giving our players the best possible opportunity to win. It’s all too obvious players on the other team are better prepared and ready to play. If a talent deficit is the issue, who is to blame for that?

What did he do?

I know he was in the postgame presser with Lon so I don't think he did anything that offended, or disrespected Lon.

It was somewhere in the middle of the second half. Maybe around the 12 minute mark? I can't remember exactly.

Rashard was on the bench and Kruger came up and got close to his face to talk to him. Odomes turned his head, looked straight left, and didn't acknowledge Kruger. No nodding. Not one look.

Then Kruger started walking off and Odomes turned back around and faced forward.

Then Kruger turned back around and started talking to Rashard again, to which Odomes turned his head to the back right and stared. No one else was talking to him. He wasn't look at anything in particular. He was just blatantly ignoring Lon.

Kruger then walked off, and Odomes faced back forward.

And no, he wasn't turning his head so he could hear. It was obvious what he was doing.

I'd never seen anyone do that to Lon, or any OU head coach.

I sit about 10 rows behind the bench.

I don't have any problem with him being upset about playing time or whatever. I agree with you on all of those points. I don't really even have a problem with him talking back to the coach and explaining frustrations.

But to ignore the coach when he's talking to you. That's where I draw the line, just because it's so disrespectful. No one should treat ANY authority figure that way.

And I also don't think you have to be looking at the coach to be listening. I wanted to get that out there before someone says that's what he was doing.

It was clear what he was doing, and he was ignoring him to his face.

ah..during a TO? problem is he isn't use to a TO being called....I'm sure his mind was elsewhere...
(a joke)...
