Rashard Odomes

ah..during a TO? problem is he isn't use to a TO being called....I'm sure his mind was elsewhere...
(a joke)...

Don't even get me started on his timeout usage. lol

But this was actually during play. Rashard was on the bench and the game was going on.

It was somewhere in the middle of the second half. Maybe around the 12 minute mark? I can't remember exactly.

Rashard was on the bench and Kruger came up and got close to his face to talk to him. Odomes turned his head, looked straight left, and didn't acknowledge Kruger. No nodding. Not one look.

Then Kruger started walking off and Odomes turned back around and faced forward.

Then Kruger turned back around and started talking to Rashard again, to which Odomes turned his head to the back right and stared. No one else was talking to him. He wasn't look at anything in particular. He was just blatantly ignoring Lon.

Kruger then walked off, and Odomes faced back forward.

And no, he wasn't turning his head so he could hear. It was obvious what he was doing.

I'd never seen anyone do that to Lon, or any OU head coach.

I sit about 10 rows behind the bench.

I’m not saying you were wrong about what took place, but I see players do that all of the time when a coach gets in their face. Turning their head is more of a sign of submission. Staring directly into the coach’s face might be interpreted as defiance. I think what Rashard did was more the norm than you realized...at least I hope so. His presence in the postgame presser seems to support that theory.

I promise you it wasn't.

I know what you're talking about, but that wasn't what happened Saturday.

I'm not saying you have to stare directly in the coaches' eyes, but when they do what you're saying, they give some indication they are listening. Whether it be them saying something verbal, slight nod of the head, or facial expressions.

He was blatantly ignoring him. And I couldn't be more sure about it.

I like Odomes, and love that he goes out there and fights every play. This isn't personal for me.

I just think he made a really disrespectful decision in the heat of the moment, which Kruger obviously forgave.

All I said in my first statement was that I wouldn't have played him again that day. But Kruger is much more of a players coach than I would be. And he gets paid to make those decisions, so it's his prerogative. And I don't really have a problem with it. Just not how I would've probably handled it. (And I'm not even saying my way is necessarily the right way, just different.)

All I can say after you explained what you saw further is that I’m disappointed if Rashard was disrespectful to Lon. There is no excuse for that kind of behavior.

I was watching the interaction too. Crutchfield and Odoms were talking as well. Crutch was getting a little animated with Odoms. Looked like Odoms just wanted to be in the game. I didn't take it as negatively as it is being described though. Lon look to understand his frustration and was trying to keep him encouraged. We were playing a little better at that point in time and I think coach wanted to see if they could get us back into the game.
