I think the real reason for the collapse was Manek hit the freshman walll. He was awesome until January. Trae took a lot of heat but he continued to produce.

OU’s wing players besides TY today went 1-11 from 3 point range. That pretty much sums up the Sooners in the ‘18 calendar year.

James, McGusty, Doolittle and Lattin playing like they belong at UCO didn’t help either.

And, Lattin, James, Doonothing should be embarrassed by their play. D1 players for those 3 this season is questionable.

The reason for the collapse is that we have 4 sophomores who were better as freshmen. While not statistically impossible, it's not something I've ever seen before with a recruiting class of 3 or more people. Having 4 players regress from the same recruiting class will hurt you 100 times out of 100.

At what point does everyone realize that the coaching staff did not do it’s job and prepare and shape this team to make it better. There’s a reason Lon hasn’t lasted this long at any other job...his scheme is very basic and recruiting lacks in every area. A change needs to be made at the top.

How they can watch Mr. Catapult shoot at the line and not reshape his shot is a sore sight to behold. He's been here 3 seasons and no change.

Team just isn't good other than trae's offense.

There are some players that do some things well: mcneace dunks on rolls/blocks, odomes attacking left handed, manek shooting 3s at home, but there is not a single player on this team, not one, that is a solid fundamental basketball player, Trae included..

Mcneace doesnt block out routinely, can't defend pick n roll, can't shoot fts, odomes can't shoot, can't hit fts, not a strong dribble in general but esp going right, manek can't shoot at all away from home, weak with basketball in general.

And to top it off, all of the players have General low basketball IQ and especially as to defense, or they just don't care to give effort on defense.

All that = bad team. That has to shoot really well to ever win

Coaching. There's none.

My point is when Manek was playing like a seasoned veteran and hitting open threes at 40%, OU was an excellent team. When Manek went into a shell and shot 20% from three, OU was below average.

I do agree that him Manek hitting the wall significantly affected this season.

Remember how Coach Kruger commented on how hard Buddy and Isiah worked practically from the minute they walked on campus? He commented once this year on how hard CJ worked in the off season but I don't think I've heard him make a comment like that about anyone else in the last two years.

Defense: they worked hard on defense today but it's still miles away from what it should be.

Yep.

Rhode Island would have strongly battled Iowa State for last place in Big 12. They weren’t as good as I thought they were.
