How much better would this team be with Henson and Hill on the bench?

This team is not playing to its potential. Yes, they are young but I think there's more to it than that.

I personally think we would be heading to the tournament. Remember buddy and cousins freshman season they won 20 games and went to the tournament.

What does everyone else think?

That team also had Romero Osby who is a better post presence than anyone on this team. And Amath M'Baye.

That team was just better. Pledger, Fitz, Cam Clark. Lot of upper classmen.

Fitz didn't play much that year. Neal was a pretty solid player that year. But that year our core freshmen showed more promise than this group. Still weren't that good a team in 2013 but played hard and usually competed. We got Spangler and Woodard next year and got things rolling pretty good. This year kinda reminds me of Capels years. Athletes but not really any basketball players right now. Now Kruger is a far better teacher and basketball mind than Capel was so maybe he can mold this group in years to come but this team stinks no way around it.

If two assistant coaches mean THAT much, than Lon Kruger isn't as good of a coach as we all think he is.

As I said before, heard some sports talk radio show up in Kansas there couple of guys saying Lon is a better man than coach. Lon or most likely no one else are going to take OU to the level of Kansas, UK UNC Duke..ect. There be years with OU making some deep runs but don't expect that every year

I trust Lon's ability as a coach wayyyyy more than your credentials to criticize him.

That isn't my expectation.

But my expectation, save situations with massive injuries or something similar, is that OU should ALWAYS make the Dance. This team, this roster.....even with it's "youth", is still a top 5-6 roster in the Big 12. Easily.

If you look back at Lon's career, this is what he does. Up and down. Good years and average/poor years. OU basketball is better than that. Or at least, it should be.

No they didn't.

McGusty and Doolittle have shown more than Hield, Cousins, and Hornbeak. Not even close.

That team won because it had Osby, Pledger and M'Baye.

I could've punted the ball up there with as much accuracy Cousins had as a FR. Hield and Horn were in the 30s. Even Shepard has been as good as Cousins started out.

Short memories.

less than one year removed from a final four and people are questioning Lon's abilities as a coach. truly pathetic.

Exactly! Buddy and Isaiah had a combined 11 ppg average their freshman season. Hornbeak aversged 6 ppg. Osby, M'Baye, Pledger and Clark were the strength of the team that season.

Cousins was so bad as freshman , I honestly didn't know how he even went D1.

I fully expected him to transfer with a couple years .

4 years later he makes the NBA draft.

If he made the NCAA tourney with 5 different programs (2 final fours) just because he's a "good guy" then he should play the lotto and retire .......because he's the luckiest guy on earth .

maturity teaches patience in the intelligent.

And the team doesn't stink this season -- it stunk yesterday.

Yep. That website tells it all. Obviously Hield and Cousins went on to be great, but our top 6 scorers that year went:

Sr - Sr - Jr - Fr - Jr - Sr
