Does anyone know if we are in on anybody to sign in the late signing period? I am a member of OUfans.com and their basketball recruiting is non-existent, basically consists of a guy named CTSooner giving "inside" info sometimes. And all he really says is that some top notch 2013 guys "like us". Is anybody a member of Hale's site? Love him or hate him he spends some time on BBall recruiting and when I was a member would have info... Just wondering. The only thing that gets me through when thinking about the anemic state of OU basketball is hoping Kruger is in on some competent athletic players with at least average BBall IQ to help us immediately next year....

How much time would you say Hale spends on basketball recruiting? Is 1% about right? ;) Seriously, I've got to give James credit for throwing BB fans a bone every now and then. A lot of OU web sites don't even do that.

Coach Kruger said in an interview not long ago that he plans to sign a JUCO player. I also heard that OU may be looking at the possiblity of a transfer coming in, but don't really know anything about the player we're after. Unless there are some unusual circumstances, any transfer we bring in from a D-1 school will have to sit out next season, so that won't do anything to help us this fall. That's why a JUCO transfer, despite the fact that good ones are hard to come by anytime of the year, is our best shot at adding to our talent pool.

Maybe someone in the know can add to what little I have to offer.

Sam and William are pretty tuned in and just haven't heard any names yet for the late period. I'm sure we'll get some though here over the next couple of weeks.

Thats b/c were the only program that can't seem to get any interest from top 100 talent. Even San Diego St just nabbed a top 40 player from Krugers former back yard. 2 recruiting classes for Kruger and not 1 top 100 talent.

Rivals is the only site that hasn't updated their recruiting class while Espn, hot 100 hoops and scout have them listed as 2 and 3 star players. So until they update it...we currently don't have 1.

Alrighty then. :)

Rivals rankings are typically more current than anything Scout and ESPN publish. If you want to believe otherwise so you can continue to point to what a great job your coach was doing in recruiting, knock yourself out.

ESPN and Scout have been killing it lately on the national recruiting front.

Since they haven't updated their rankings since August...I'm going to have to say your wrong.

LOL...wow rivals rankings are the best period. Scouts are absolutely retarded i dont know why anyone would spend a dime there.. ESPN's are like 7/10 Rivals- 8.5/10 imo

our two guards we've got so far are pretty good gets.. besides you want kruger to just go and sign a couple of MCDAA's?? tmg and gallon sure worked out well.....

Hale mentioned PF 6-9 Dominic Woodson from Vermont for the spring.
But he's a 2013 player.

So Woodson could be eligible to sign this spring? Or Hale just misinformed?

That would be huge if we could get Woodson for next year. Kids got game.

I think James was in error when he said OU was recruiting Woodson as a spring signee. Every profile I've seen (Rivals, Scout and ESPN) shows he's a 2013 recruit.

Either way, the kid would be a huge get if we can sign him.

He, and the Randle kid are a couple of the reasons we probably haven't offered Morris just yet, to answer your question in the other thread. We're in on some pretty good posts, but I'm guessing you'll see us offer him soon, if he is deserving of an offer.

I agree. I'm just hoping we don't wait too long for a Randle or a Woodson, only to see a kid like Morris go to another school and possibly take Woodward with him. We've been down that road before, and I would rather not see a repeat if it can be avoided.

Even if we don't sign anyone else, we will be much improved:

  • Players get an off-season to work on Coach Kruger's system and expectations
  • We fill our two most critical needs, i.e. guard scoring with Hornbeak and Hield and good post depth with M'baye.
  • We will return the most upperclassmen of any Big 12 team...seniors, even if they are less talented, tend to win out over inexperience in the long run.
  • In Lon Kruger's career, he has never had a second season that is worse than the first.

And he won't at OU either. Give him time he will fix it. The previous coach left a big mess.
