What are the chances of us landing a player close to BG's caliber ever again? Meaning top 50 player at least, BG is once in a generation player. I have a feeling we may never get lucky enough to land a 5 star again, that's actually 5 stars, not just a ranking.

Well, if his older brother are already on the team, I would say the chances are pretty good.

So do you mean landing a once in a generation player or a top 50 player or a 5 star player?

You seriously think we will never land another top recruit again?

It will happen eventually (top 50 caliber). Possibly even Randle. . .but we could get some definite top talent if we lock down our own borders in the next couple of years. . . Like getting the Woodard brothers. . .Maybe not top 50 for both of them but definitely quality players who will be important building blocks.

Honestly i think some of you would have learned a hard lesson with our McD's trio. You should be more concerned with being competitive and winning than how high a guy is ranked. We are better off with getting solid talent with the occasional top 50 or top 25 kid than drooling all over all these one and done recruits all the time. Has anyone learned anything during these last two Final Fours? Especially this years.

I would rather have a 4* player with 5* character than a 5* player w/ 1* character.

Cam Clark was ranked in the top 35. We should get at least 1 top 50 type of guy at least every other recruiting year IMO. Heck, WW, Tiny and TMG were all top 50 as well as BG. We've has several in the last few years. Unfortunately, not all have panned out.

I would love to get Randle though!! Would be huge to get a guy ranked #1 in class by many. Tough feat though.

Exactly. There are very few coaches who can manage to get guys with character issues to perform on the court and even when they do they aren't much fun to root for.

Top 50, as in top 50 in their HS class?

Because that happens all the time. OU lands top 50 kids every two or three years, at worst. Or so it seems. Cam was around 30. WW was top 15. Hollis was around 46 if my memory is right. Lavendar was #26. Austin Johnson was #53. Keith Clark #57.

Jordan Woodard will likely be a top 50 national player so there's that angle.

To echo what others have said, a top 50 every year/other year is what should be expected. Texas has been blowing up with recruits, it seems like there is 10-15 top 150 type kids in Texas in 2012. That gives OU a big base to recruit from.

The player that is often forgot around here is Kevin Bookout. #31 according to the RSCI rankings.
