I see alot of folks having woodard in their predicted starting lineup. PG is one of the toughest positions to play, IMO. Not very many kids can come in and play at a high level as a freshman, nevertheless at PG.

True that.

2012-13 Season: Sam Grooms started 6 of 18 conference games. That means a freshman started at PG in the other 12 conference games. So, we have seen this before.

I'm not sure how many thoughtful fans are expecting Woodard to play at a "high level" next season, but we can hope.

OU is young. There will be 5 guards on the roster; three sophomores and two freshmen. It is, what it is. Let's cheer them on and watch them develop over the course of the season, and the course of their careers.

I had to have a lot of swim lessons to learn to swim. My wife learned by having her dad throw her in a lake. She's a helluva lot better swimmer than I am. So I'm all of throwing them out there early and learn on the go.

I'd guess Hornbeak or Cousins will begin the year as starter with Woodard getting lots of playing time in hopes that he can play a big role when conference season comes around. If he doesn't start to come around by then will be a tougher year for us. I think he'll be fine, maybe just not good enough his freshman year. Hopefully, he's a quick learner!

I'd guess Woodard would come out starting at the beginning of the season, maybe ceding that role to Cousins or Hornbeak if he's not up to snuff later in the season.

It looks like Lon likes to put the guys through a bit of a trial by fire to see who's ready to play. There were a lot of close games early in the season where he stuck with the new guys when they were having trouble breaking the press or running the offense. It was all about learning to be ready later in the season.

McLemore and Smart were both named to the 2nd team AA team. Freshman can be contributors.

Woodard will not be McLemore or Smart. Come on! I think Woodard will be a nice player but those guys are stars. It's like comparing apples to Tuesday.
