Please support the basketball during conference play. If they have large energetic crowds they can make the NCAA Tournament. OU will have a good team next year. It is pratically a certainty. Be some of the first on the bus.

The older fans will not do their part unless the students lead the way. When you guys make noise the older people follow. Without student support it will not be a crazy environment that makes it tough on visiting teams.

Regardless of what you have heard, I promise it is a fact that Loyd Noble Center was once one of the greatest venues in all of college basketball. In the late 80s teams would have rathered play in Lawrence than Norman. You can repeat history. All it takes is about four thousand to show up and few lunatics to get things going. Make the Big XII conference fear Norman again. Pride youselves on not being lame fans like the students at Texas who make almost no noise.

Make it so loud that those of us that went to the UNLV games will think those were high school games.

Nice post, Denver.

While the crowds have been small (actually larger than I expected given the circumstances) I want to point out that I have noticed more folks being involved with the game and getting loud at the right times than in recent years. Seems like the fans are really falling for this group and why not - they are great kids, coached by a great coach, and they play defense, rebound, and hustle. (The big dunks don't hurt either....).

Need some students to step up and promote the program. Need some local fans to step up and spread the word around Norman. Get to the games!!!

You forgot the disclaimer, where you say that this does not apply to all old people. Otherwise, they will swoop in and call you a whippersnapper or worse. I know. It has happened to me.

And actually the butts in the seats attendance has been pretty good considering the student support has been non-existant (sans my Top Daug brosephs)

I actually was rather impressed with the crowd last night as Smash commented. It wasn't the largest crowd the LNC has ever seen but I don't think there's any doubt word is starting to spread about how much fun this team is to watch.

Eddie Radosevich of SoonerScoop.

The biggest thing will always be that the team has to win, and unfortunately, usually the crowds lag a bit behind. I do think that Kruger is doing all the correct things to get people out to the LNC. Let's hope he keeps it up...

I was thinking to myself today, what do OU students do these days? There's not that much to do in Norman and say what you want but they aren't all studying.

Just landed a job, so I'll be there as much as possible starting in January!

I support the idea behind the post, but I believe the people that will read it are the ones already going to the games.

We will start to fill more games come conference play once the Spring semester starts like we always do.

The key is to get those that already do go to the games (and probably read this board) to try and get other sooner fans to go to the games. If you are an out-of-towner, try and make some calls and get those that live in the area to go to games.

Its the preacher philosophy if everybody gets 1 more person to come then...

I am one of those "old people" and I would be there every game but I live in Memphis, but I do make about three games a year all after the starting in January, to many grand kids to get stuff for Christmas other wise I would be there Sooner! I will do my part come January and February

Merry Christmas Sooners

FWIW, I honestly think we had a better student section for the Arkansas game than we did for every home game last year except for Texas. Granted, that isn't saying much at all, but I do see student attendance/participation trending upwards this year. Obviously the student section for the four home games over break (South Carolina State, Northwestern State, Kansas, Kansas State) is going to be pitiful (I honestly don't know why they even give us tickets to the games over break) but I bet for conference it's decent. Let's look at the conference home schedule after break.

Texas Tech - Won't be good.
Baylor - Potentially undefeated/top 5 team, will be good.
Iowa State - National TV, will be good.
Missouri - Potentially undefeated/top 5 team, will be good.
Texas - Rivalry game, will be good.
Oklahoma State - Rivalry game, will be good.
Texas A&M - Potential top 25 team, potential bubble battle, senior day, will be good.

So, I'd expect both student and general attendance to be pretty good for the last six home games. For those of you who attend games you know myself, ksSooner13, and T_Neal's_Twitter always lead chants for the student section and make noise on defense, now we just need more students to follow along. Should be a fun ride especially if we stay on the bubble for most of the season, which is what I'm expecting at this point.

Myself and my two roommates who have student season tickets will sadly be out of town during the Kansas game.

Try to give them away...

It sucks that the game is during the winter break.

Wasn't trying to dog on you guys at, SIM. Its just going to take lots of effort to get folks to the games. I know because I did it for several years (really started trying during Capel's first year). Winning is the most important factor (by far), but, you can make a noticable difference if you are willing to put in the time and effort. :OUbball-logo:

I have been and will be there, cheering them on from the student section. Now if that ****ing announcer would stop telling us to sit down when the Sooners score...

If we're counting on the hundred or less students who consistently show up to lead by example, then I don't have much hope for the rest of the season...

It will be a challenge. The good news is that Kruger is working hard with the students and there are some students that already attend that are motivated to get more folks to the games and get it loud. Neither of those two things were happening the last time the student section was so pitiful (5 years ago).

The thing is I'm one of these students, I constantly trying to encourage my coworkers (the ones who are also OU students) to go to the games. And they won't bite.
