RIP Stan Silliman

SilliSooner?
The guy that always posts his articles on here?

The one and only. I had the pleasure of knowing him through stand up comedy. Just a really warm and good guy.

Back in 2009, he was diagnosed with inoperable spinal tumors and we who knew him all assumed the worst. He never, ever missed an Othello's open mic, even as his mobility went downhill. The man was dedicated to making people happy in a way I haven't seen many people dedicated to anything. He got eight years on this earth that no one would have predicted and did his level best to make them matter. He'll be missed, and we as fans of OU sports ought to miss him all the more.

I'm terribly sorry to hear this. He once invited me to see him perform standup comedy here in NYC and unfortunately I was booked that night and couldn't attend. I was looking forward to seeing him perform on some future date, having no idea he was ill.

May he rest in peace, and may all who knew and loved him find comfort and peace.

Great dude. Wonderful writer. Very, very sharp and always astute.

Sad news. Godspeed, Sillisooner!

Did not know Stan personally, and I had no idea he was terminally ill, but I'm still shocked and saddened by this news.

I assume he had a family that loved him, and if so, I hope they can receive at least a small amount of comfort in knowing that "SilliSooner'" had brothers and sisters on ouhoops.com that admired and respected him.

I only knew Stan as a poster here and on the Insider board. So sorry to hear that he will not honor us with his presence again. Prayers for his family and those who knew him personally.

RIP, SilliSooner! You will be missed.

Amen. I enjoyed reading his posts both on this board and on OUInsider way back when.

Dang, terrible to hear. Our small community here is certainly smaller by his passing. RIP and prayers for his family.

Wow,that's horrible news.

He was one of my favorite posters for sure. RIP..

This was a wonderful tribute. Thanks for posting.

Very sorry to hear this. He was a good contributor and seemed like an all-around nice guy.

Very sad news. Thoughts and prayers with the Family and Friends. He will be missed

Oh no. Sorry to hear that. Thoughts and prayers to his family/friends.

Rest in peace. Prayers and thoughts for family and friends he left behind. I think I would have liked to see him do comedy.
