Just looked at his stats for his JUCO team

http://cms.hutchcc.edu/athletics-ftp/basketballmen/2010-11%20stats/Men's%20BKB%20Cumulative.html

Here's basically what it says 9.4 points, 6.2 boards in only 20 minutes. Those numbers aren't really that bad for 20 minutes. Here's the question is it a good thing that we signed a guy that averages 20 minutes a game in JUCO? His numbers really aren't that bad for 20 minutes a game. Equate it out to 40 minutes and he has numbers similar to what CJ Washington had at Connors. Is there some kind of injury situation with him?

Also he's a real bad free throw shooter at 46%

Don't I remember him having some sort of injury LAST YEAR? Maybe not healed or fully in shape due to it. I think we MAY be disappointed in what he brings...nothing to base that on...just a gut feeling.

I typically rely on njcaa.org for juco stats, and they don't list minutes per game. It seems to me, though, that juco teams seem to spread minutes around a bit more than D1 teams typically do. Everyone there is there to get exposure for the next level, and I suspect a lot of coaches try to get as many players as possible a bit of meaningful PT. Their best recruiting pitches have to revolve around their placement rate for D1 recruits, so the more guys they can showcase the better.

I'm going off of what I've seen(online viewing) and he didn't look all that impressive.

Goff was healthy last year as far as I know as he sat it out because of transfer rules within the Jayhawk conference.

He did suffer a minor knee injury and had surgery in early November and missed most of the month due to that.

Really don't know what to say about, Goff he's been unimpressive in so far whenever I've watched the Ustreams, he looks the part but doesn't play the way he should.

He's a guy with some potetnial as he is a solid 6'8/6'9 with good athletic ability. So maybe the light will come on for him at OU but who knows. At the very least OU is getting some much needed size in the post.

I coulda sworn Goff was one of the top juco big guys out there, am I dreaming?

His stats lead me to believe I am.

No injury, sat out due to intra-Jayhawk Conference transfer rules.

He's going to give us some time off the bench, hopefully roam the middle and grab some boards. Goff will definitely not be anything special.

I think that's right. I thought somebody posted he was NJCAA player of the year or something.

However, you have to remember, Washington and Thompson were NJCAA all-americans last year, I believe. In fact, Thompson was touted as the most impressive player at the national tournament in some old posts I read this weekend about him.

I believe it sounds like the JUCO game has become watered down with all the prep schools. It's not the hotbed it once was.

Thanks for the insight, camp...:clap

How low can we go? Counting on a part time juco starter to be our Lebron James. Good grief

If you don't dominate the JUCO level, then how are you expected to contribute as a starter at OU?

Goff won't be an JUCO AA, and our JUCO AAs haven't made any impact at OU this year.

Too bad we didn't get N'daiye (sp?) or Marquisse Carter, those guys were going to save our program about this time last year.

I haven't been disappointed with Washington, he's done a nice job in a limited role.

But that's off the point. I can't believe Thompson was touted as such. I'm not saying he wasn't, but watching him now, or back in December anyways, it's hard to fathom him being impressive. Although, I will say I think he has some offensive skill. Unfortunately, for every two he scored, he gave up four.

I know one thing, Goff, at least athletically, will be an inprovement over what we have.

I like Washington and question why he doesn't play more because he is our best rebounder.

I can just remember a day when the JUCO all-americans were players like Ace McGhee, Corey Brewer, Daryan Selvy, Nolan Johnson, and impact players like that. I think we can both agree Washington is not on that level which tells me the JUCO talent isn't as good as it used to be.

That's all I was saying.

We only need 3 things from him.

1. Go to class.
2. rebound
3. block shots

thats it

I really thought Thompson could come in and help this team, then, and I can't remember exactly who it was against (but it was early in conference play) and I saw him bail out on a screen, like he was afraid of contact or something. There was a television time-out right after that and Capel was off-the-hook pissed at the kid and I don't recall seeing him playing any relevant minutes since.

I think the Baylor game at Baylor was his last action. He played really bad in that game.
