Rotnei Clark asking for his release

Clark is going to be a senior. He needs to shut up and finish up at Arkansas.

More evidence that this kid and those in his ear are a tremendous group of clowns.

I still think Anderson was stupid for leaving a sure winner (Mizzou) that he built to go to a sinking ship and try to rebuild it. I am not saying he can't or won't succeed, but what does he have at Arkansas that he can't get at Mizzou?

Arkansas has been irrelevant for 15+ years... seems like a lateral move to me and he was gonna have a very good team next season.

Time.

At Mizzou he'd flirted with other offers for three straight years while simultaneously saying he wanted to retire here. Fans were beginning to get tired of him essentially trying to leverage a new contract every year. Combine that with a lackluster finish to this past season after huge expectations entering the season and the daunting task of adding 10 players over the next 18 months (even more difficult for a coach who isn't a great recruiter) and Mizzou could have quickly become a bad situation for him. Certainly there was a chance he could find himself without the option of leaving for a better offer.

At Arkansas he'll have the grace period that comes with any new hire, plus a little more stability (so he thought) as far as scholarships.

I was one of Anderson's biggest supporters when he was here, but I do think he has a bit of a sense of entitlement. He thought he'd come to Mizzou and everything would be easy and he'd be treated like royalty. It didn't quite happen that way and I honestly think he had never really planned on staying here for the long haul.

Sounds like Capel.

The cupcake schedule that is the SEC West.

I actually just read today that Anderson may not grant Clark a release because they're losing so many other players. A couple others have already left, one of his (Pelphrey's) stud recruits failed to qualify, and a couple remaining players are dealing with some injury problems. He might need Clark to stick around.

It is wrong to make the kid stay. If he doesn't want to be at Arkansas, it is in everybody's best interest to let him leave.

Well he has a top 5 class coming in, a 20,000 seat arena that is packed when we're good, an easier division to win, and Arkansas is his home pretty much

The reason mike didnt release him sooner is because our AD was on vacation last week and he wanted Clarke to meet with him first before letting him go...many thought it was because we couldnt afford the APR hit though. Idk why he would leave...there have been rumors that he doesnt really get along with his teammates

I think he could have been great in this system much like al dillard in the 90's...he would have had more open looks this year. He will probably end up at Gonzaga or Oral Roberts or somewhere

I'm sure he wanted to keep him around because is one a few kids at Arkansas that don't have serioius baggage.

Well i think we've gotten rid of most of the troublemakers...courtney fortson was good but he was a thug off the court. I dont think its possible for a college basketball team to be completely clean

He could transferto oSu and olay with the dofus from Pawnee who was his friend and rival in hs.Sorry, not a Cowpuke fan and I fail to recall the kid's name.

Cowpuke fan, no...intellectually superior, yes.

gohogs- is Rotnei close to graduating? I have read Baylor and Gonzaga linked to him early since the story broke. If he graduates, he's able to play right away, correct? Like Knox and North Carolina last year who transferred from Alabama.

The toughest part of basketball is putting the ball in the basket. Rotnei can do that well. He's going to be an asset to the program that lands him.

I would think he would be a really good fit at Gonzaga or Baylor because both schools have athletes around him that would prevent defenses from focusing on him like they did at Arkansas last year.

I've never understood the disdain for Rotnei on this board. I guess it stems from the whole WW or Rotnei Clark deal. Not sure.

That said, the kid will help whatever team he goes through, poor defense or not. His last two seasons, 3 point shooting percentage-wise, would rank right up at the top of the OU single season 3 point leaders. Both are probably top 5 seasons. With as poorly as we shoot the ball, and have shot the ball for several seasons now, I'd love to have a kid like Rotnei. I thought we had one in Pledger, but that hasn't panned out to date. Still hoping for a turnaround, but expecting Rotnei numbers may be asking a bit much.

ESPN insider hinting at Kansas? Can't read their article though.

My only knock on Rotnei is that he's worried about his points over W's and rarely looks to get others involved. With that said, kid can stroke it. Personally, the school he chooses to attend next year (and there are going to be quite a few options) will determine what type of player Rotnei is.

It was quoting a KC newspaper writer who tweeted that the Jayhawks should go after Clarke. Hopefully, they will lure in hundreds of Jayhawk fans to spend their hard earned cash to get that valuable inside info.
