I hope some Arkansas fans can contribute because I just have bits and pieces of the story. But apparently Clarke was ready to transfer, and Pelphrey made some plea to keep him from doing so. I guess the fear was Pelphrey would lose his job if he had any more player attrition and Clarke, one of the few Arkie players who hasn't gotten in trouble, leaving would be a bad sign. So Pelphrey met with his dad and assured Clarke to be more involved in the offense and Clarke put out a press release saying that he was thinking about transfering, but has faith in Pelphrey and the program direction. One Arkansas message board poster leaked the senario before Clarke even made the statement.

I fail to see how he could be more involved in the offense than he already is. He was 2nd on the team in field goal attempts, led the team in minutes played, and had nearly triple the amount of 3 pt attempts of anyone else on the team.

the dude is selfish.. i wish everyone here could have seen their high school offense.. he probably didnt think he got enough shots then too

And what is it with Arkansas and players' parents sticking their noses where they don't belong? First the Mustain family fiasco and now this. They've got a severe case of "little league parent" going on over there.

Haha yal are funny. He was going to transfer because he didn't like the situation the team was in (i.e. he wanted to win, and from what I heard, Willie leaving here might have helped too). the funny thing is, his dad only got involved because the coach made that decision in order to try to get him so get your facts straight.

And if you are the most prolific scorer in state history, I think the ball should go through your hands 90% of the time or more. Thats not being selfish thats being smart.

Seriously?

Seriously?

While I don't agree with all of his post, I do think if you are the dominant player on your team in high school, like he was, then yes, the ball should probably be in his hands on 90% of the possessions. Not that he'll shoot it that much, but that he gets an opportunity to make a play. Now, that's not the same as it should be at Arkansas, because while he's a good player, he's not the far-and-away dominant player on his team in a similar situation.

Seriously?

Yeah, dead serious. Did you see his high school team? His sophomore year he had a decent little guard that could play and he handled the ball and scored a lot. His next year, he had no real guard play around him and a decent post. It wasn't like they had other options for him. He is the reason they were as good as they were. he single handedly beat many teams and he also shared the ball.

Yeah, but did he share it late in the 4th period up by 30 points (and still in the game) as much as he did in the first half up by only 10?

Great first post lol. Idk if he did or not, didn't watch every game. But you don't take the ball out of your best/only players hands. He created their offense by whatever he did. It's high school, of course he is going to look for his own shot even late.

I really don't give a rat's azz.

If he was involved in any sort of "me me me" then I don't want ANYTHING to do with him.

We need absolutely zero more players with any "me me me" in them.

zero.

I don't care if it's the second coming of Michael Jordan. This program needs "we".

One player transferring? :vitale

I guess there was a complaint that when Fortson came back he refused to kick it out to him on drives.

yea, because being the leading scorer on Verdigris and player that took all the shots equals being the best player and guy that should take all the shots at Arkansas...that's perfect if you want to hang out in the cellar of the SEC...

I think he is a solid college player, but not a guy that "must" touch the ball...know ur role, check tha ego at the door...

The funny thing is WW always set him up to look good in AAU ball.

+1

This dude acts like he's the second coming of Kobe or Jordan or something.

Some didn't read what OUguy11 said. He said it had nothing to do with wanting to shoot more, the kid wanted to win. Nothing wrong with that. I kinda like winning too.

If it's really true that all he cares about is winning then I wonder what Pelfrey was able to say to him to make him change his mind to stay?

I know a lot people see him as selfish, but knowing about him he really isnt selfish.
But being a scorer you have to have a little bit of selfishness. When that is your role to be the scorer you cant afford to be passive all the time.

When we had BG, our offense ran directly through him. Thats not being selfish, if thats your role on the team then you must get your points. Now when your not on or they are doubling you, you have to give it up...
When BG struggle to get his 20-25 we struggled at times. When the KD for the thunder doesnt get his 25-30, they struggle.
