Rotnei Clarke situation

what makes you the best shooter in NCAA history... Percentage?
Clarke's is better...

Im not saying clarke is better. Im saying you can build around guys who are flat out scorers!

If Arkansas wants to build around a player like Rotnei (whether you label him as a shooter, scorer, whatever) fine by me. Just be another easy win for OU if we meet up, and God knows we could use some of those. Arkansas was built around Rotnei when Fortson was out, that didn't seem to work so well.

Redick had Sheldon williams, dockery, randolph, deng, etc...
Its not like JJ did it by himself.

If thats what you have, then what are you suppose to do.
You must have been a post player in HS.

You can get serviceable big men/PGs in the SEC (example: Washington and Fortson).

Ironic you mention that, played the 2/3 in high school and college.

Fortson is not one you can count on.

I understand your reasoning... I just think you can build around a good 2 gaurd.

Whether anyone would try to build an offense around him, we could most definitely use Rotnei on this team.

But an one dimensional 2-guard like Rotnei? Sure Rotnei can shot lights out but we've seen what happens in Norman what one focused defender can do to his game. His ability to shoot is awesome but he has difficultly creating his own shot and can't really drive vs high major teams. This isn't Stephan Curry you're building around at the 2 guard.

This this this

Oklahoma All-Time Scoring List

1. Rotnei Clarke, Verdigris, (2008) 3,758
2. Keiton Page, Pawnee, (2008) 3,709
3. Ty Harman, Maud, (1989) 3,639
4. Kelenna Azubuike, Victory Christian, (2002) 3,530
5. Kenneth Johnson, Grandfield, (1979) 3,191

Fixed!

Let any top-notch player take virtually all of the shots, and he's going to rack up big numbers.

As good as Clarke is, he wouldn't have been the most prolific scorer in state history without the ball going through his hands 90% of the time. His high school stats were, quite simply, inflated.

That's not a knock on him, and I wouldn't mind having him in crimson and cream, but he's not remotely the best scorer the state's ever produced.

Lol i'm sorry but i'm pretty sure everyone's stats on the list of all time scorers must be "inflated" then. Most of the good players who score a lot have the ball go through their hands 90% of the time or so. Keiton was the same way, as was Azubuike. You let your best player take over. Anyways, i'm not saying build around him in college i was discussing his high school career that someone mentioned.

It was surprisingly hard to find those numbers. Maybe I should have started my search at the Tulsa World website.

Clark was an amazing player in high school, but I wish Page had become the all-time leading scorer since one of the objective's of Clark and his high school coach from Day 1 was to become the leading all-time scorer in Oklahoma history. That resulted in some things that happened during games that should not have happened, IMO. I think Clark is/was probably a good kid, but he is not on Page's level in areas that are important to me (I call them character). When I think about Clark and Page, I am reminded of Tebow and Bradford. I have a lot of respect for Tebow, but Bradford came without the "baggage". To much "me" from Clark and family. No "me" ever from Page and family.

Your 2 posts have been gems! It's Clarke, i thought you might know that since you are so in the know. And I'm pretty sure there was some me in from his family which is why the 2 boys never played together again after middle school until the faith 7 game.

But that was probably all "clark's" fault though.

I find it highly unlikely that the Page family didn't use any "me" in order for Keiton to try for the record. Who wouldn't? It is a great accomplishment to be the state's all time leading scorer.

Big is an osu fan too, so he would know this stuff lol!
