Roy Williams... still a jerk

Has it ever been said Roy Williams might be ... er... a little sensitive?

Ill never forget, one time when he was with Gay U sometime in the 80s or early 90s one of his players fell down at one of the ends of the court, and a student really gave the guy crap while he was down, but didnt touch him. Roy the boy ran over there and challenged the pimply faced college boy fan. Roy can be a little sensitive....

Ejected fan: I had tickets, wasn't drunk

Presbyterian fan Brian King said he is not mad at North Carolina coach Roy Williams after being tossed out of Saturday's game at the Smith Center. But he is upset about how he was portrayed.

"I didn't say anything vulgar, I was not intoxicated ... I was cheering for Presbyterian," King, who is from Concord, said. " I was excited to see my little team play a big team. ... When it happened, it was so quiet in the arena; at that point, everyone was talking about their golf scores and portfolios, and I was still cheering. Coach Williams didn't like it, that's all. I don't blame him, but he did over-react."

King was sitting about 20 rows behind Carolina's bench with about six minutes to go when he yelled for Tar Heels forward Deon Thompson to miss a free throw. Williams turned around the looked up at King, and soon three officers were on their way into the stands, and asked King to leave.

"I asked why?" King said in a phone interview. "And I was told, 'Because this is Roy's house, and when Roy says you need to go, you go.' I thought it was sort of amusing."

However, he added: "Never did anyone ask me for my ticket, because ... I had at least two in my pocket, from people who didn't show up."

Steve Kirschner, UNC's associate athletics director for communications, said Williams did not ask for King to be tossed out.

"Coach Williams asked security to go find out if the guy was supposed to be sitting there, because where the guy was sitting is very close -- it's right across, the aisle, I think -- from where Coach Williams' seats are," Kirschner said. " ... When he has seats that he gives himself, personally, or from the basketball office, he wants to make sure those are Carolina people sitting in those seats. So when he turned around and he's looking up there and people are pointing the guy out, he thought those were seats he had given out. So he asked the security guy behind the bench.

"He did not tell the security guy to go get the guy and throw him out."

Randy Young, spokesman for UNC's department of public safety, said that King initially ignored police officers when they approached him.

"Then he began a conversation with them, and he was still not cooperative," Young said. "When he finally made his way across the aisles, they tried to engage him in conversation. He was still relatively uncooperative. At that point it was in the officers' opinion that he had been drinking. At which point they made the decision that it would be better for himself and others that he was escorted from the building. He was not arrested, no charges were pressed, no trespass orders were issued. That was it. He was simply escorted from the building."

King, who was attendting the game with a half-dozen of his former elementary school friends (who were UNC fans) reiterated that he was not drunk. He said again that he was not angry with Williams, but about how the situation was "spun" afterwards: "I've coached little league basketball, and I understand emotions get hot, I really have no problem with happened there. But they tried to portray me as an intoxicated person and that wasn't true."

The innovation of technology has caused the downfall of Tiger and now Dickface Williams

Liars.

Kirschner and Young look like absolute lying morons.
Watch the video and you can see that Roy clearly asked for the guy to be ejected, the security guards immediately told him to leave when they got there, and he seemed completely cooperative and sober during the 5-10 seconds that it happened.

It just seems to me that a state university's basketball coach should worry about and be in control of his players and assistants and no one else. If the guy had paid for tickets then he had every right to be there no matter what Roy likes. This is sad and smacks of censorship and illegality to me.

Now the University has slandered him if they called him intoxicated and he wasn't.

Do they sell alcohol at ACC basketball games?

This was during the two game stretch where we beat Missouri and KU back to back when they were both ranked number one. Abercrombie hit the three in the corner.

The player slide into Kelvin's Krew when they used to allow the Krew right against the floor (there were cones and police tape for effect). The player slide into the group. One guy in the Krew was helping him up while the other guy was yelling at him. Williams comes running over like a moron thinking they were attacking his player. The player even told Williams to settle down.

They ended up pushing the Krew back off the floor right after that (actually during the game). This is one of the reasons it took so long to get the stupid tables removed from the sides of the court. AD feared that there might be a fight.

They might not sell alcohol but I'm sure they sell cigarettes.

They sell beer at the Coors Events Center (CU home games) or did last time I went to a basketball game at CU. They had to quit selling it at football games because people were drinking way too much and behaving poorly.

Was that the same year that the Texas player ended up in the midst of some fans standing at the end of the court at GIA?

I think he is a liar. He did have the fan kicked out for cheering on his team.

I agree. Additionally, he absolutely knows that most UNC fans yell at the other players and that a percentage of UNC fans (just like all schools - a percentage of OU fans do it too) yell completely inappropriate things at the other team, including obscene language. He simply cannot pretend this does not happen.

Who hasn't sat in stands at an event and had to endure an obnoxious fan. It is part of the deal. If they are not being obscene you don't have a right to complain.

they stopped sell beer at the coors event center .. 2 before last season ... bowing to a little admin pressure it used to be fun to go watch some cu basketball and have a cold one

I did not know that. I understood the decision at Folsum, so of the fans abused it and acted very poorly; however, I personally never witnessed any issues at the basketball games.

Do you remember when Coors used to give the employees as much beer as they wanted after work? That ended quite a while ago and I know about through lore (I suppose it could be an urban legend but I heard about it from several people).

Well, it actually wouldn't be slander because they never made a false statement of fact. They said it was in the officer's opinion, which is totally in his right to have that opinion if he honestly feels that way.
