Rule Changes

I like all but the music and other entertainment which might be added during dead ball situations. Maybe those will be okay, but not sure.

I like 4 quarters and the 5 fouls per quarter before the one and one.

As for the timeouts, it appears we are losing one but with 4 quarters, the net effect is that we actually gain one.

I believe these are all rules which exist in the WNBA (except I am not sure of the W's number of timeouts).

Finally, aren't the refs supposed to be tightening up this season and calling more things fouls. That makes the 5 fouls per quarter before the one and one even more important.

I have no problem with any of the changes except the sound effects/music change. My least favorite thing about WNBA games is how your ears are assaulted constantly by canned music and sound effects. I would have no problem with the rule change if it was just adding more music from the pep band.

By the way there is no one and one...it is straight to two shot free throws each quarter.

We've lost some games due to the inability of some very good free throw shooters who couldn't hit the front end of a one-and-one late in the game. But, for some reason, Sherri seems to think that this puts more of a premium on shooting free throws well. Once you hit that fifth foul, you do have two shots every time. You always have the two-shot foul on shooting fouls. I haven't seen the statistics, but it does seem that the international players are always able to hit their free throws, much more so than we are. They emphasize that. It may be the importance in a quarter system.

I missed that about there being no one and one and I watched several WNBA games on the internet this past season. Thanks for making that clear.

I agree. I am just hoping it isn't like the WNBA or maybe a toned down version.

We'd better learn to play with fewer fouls a LOT fewer fouls. This is one of our weaknesses. Now it will cost us if we dont improve and improve a lot.

The close of each quarter will be like a timeout. TV games will cut to a commercial and the team can huddle I suppose.
