Rumors abound about OU Hoops at Final Four >>> Tulsa World

A newspaper let that tabloid-esque article be published? Seriously?

Much the same as Sittler's last editorial regarding OU basketball....lots of ifs and little substance.

I'm still shaking my head over how he was able to read Joe C's mind in Kansas City from the other side of the arena.

You're really talented, David.

Stitler is a douchebag. He hasn't written a good column since the one he wrote about Demond Parker and that was about five years ago.

Yeah, pretty "tabloid" reporting itself.

In essence, some media guys were sitting around talking and throwing ideas around. There was also an alleged packet of material that was never produced about "some" school that could be in trouble...

All pretty bogus on a slow news day.

If I may channel Yogi Berra, "until we know something, we don't know anything."

Bad news stories like this seem to go on, and on, and on. Its like the same exact story is written up in some publication every 10 days or so, with little or nothing in the way of new information.

Guys sitting around eating free media room food, between games they're covering, speculating about what might have, or might not have happened...is not a news story.

I think I'll create a gmail account called trblmkr@gmail.com. Then, I'll send the Tulsa World and the Austin American Statesman an email telling them that Vince Young and Kevin Durant were both bought and paid for by UT. Do you think the Tulsa World would publish that story?

How can 2 almost directly contrary things be stated in the same article. If the Gallon thing has OU assistants involved there's no way we see Willie come back because that would likely result in the firing of our coaches.

I don't think the article said where 'the assistant' worked.

That's true but it's pretty obvious his tone on that part was like it was bad news for OU.

Its not money in the bank by any means that the assistant rumored is from OU. Hausinger is a Florida State alum and Booster. He was involved with the Lebron James camps. My guess is that the has attempted to cut a deal with many players, teams and coaches (IF and its a big if this really was an illegal transaction).

Exactly. If it has stated that (of course, that would have entailed KNOWING that information), it might have been newsworthy. Of course, the info would only have been from a disconnected "source" even then. For some reason I see this whole conversation happening in a steam room somewhere...

This whole article just smacks of bored writers who got scooped on actual news by Emig at their own paper...

This stuff really hacks me off!! "A source close to the OU situation said Friday that it's looking more unlikely that Gallon will return for his sophomore season." Ummm ok, I say he's back but Tulsa World you keep printing what your "source" says.

This is the same stuff being spewed around just worded different and some person "shopping" around a story.

we need to separate sittler's coverage with the tulsa world from guerin emig's coverage. he's basically the only beat writer covering the team, because i don't know what the heck the oklahoman is doing. i guess the transcript is ok. but the emig does a great job and shouldn't be sullied by sittler's words and rumors.

Also you can't ignore that beat writers sometimes fuel the rumors. Just as Andrea Cohen fueled the story about Bobby Reid that Jenni Carlson took the hit for. The Tulsa World and DOK are owned by the same company.
