OU vs Texas St 7PM CST on ESPN+

Looks like KU is going to escape. Kentucky played well and led most of the second half, but they looked like a team full of freshmen in the last five minutes (which they are) with really bad shot selection.....and it got away from them.

Iowa is hanging tough with Creighton....down 5 with just over a minute left.

Iowa lost by 8 to Creighton (Iowa is #40 in Kenpom, btw; we're 32). USC, which was 14 entering tonight's game, lost by 10 to UC Irvine, which was ranked 101 in Kenpom, while Seton Hall is ranked 52.

Overall, we look much better. Athleticism, quickness, and defense are much better. I do think we're a work in progress defensively and that we will get burned by not having a rim protector at some point, but I've also seen the ability to be elite defensively.

Uzan
Oweh
Darthard
Soares
Moore

That lineup can shut down a LOT of teams.

I like that we seem to have balanced scoring -- lots of guys who can score 12-15 on any given night. With Uzan playing flat / off offensively, I wonder who can score 25 when we need it. McCollum on a good shooting night (shot selection has been iffy)? Uzan -- but he's going to have to be aggressive.

Overall, we look like a tournament team and have the roster makeup to upset some very good teams. Need Godwin and Hugley to keep coming along...

Northweather experiment is going to take some time to grow on me. I'm getting definite Jacob Groves vibes.

Im ready to see us vs a big boy school. Iowa then USC would be great to see where we stand.

Updated Kenpom rankings have USC at 28, OU at 32, Iowa at 39, and Seton Hall at 52 so, on paper at least, they should be competitive games.

Last year OU scored more than 80 points 3 times and 90 points once.

Three games in more than 80 points 3 times and 90 once and one of those 80 points games was 89 points. This team is way better than last years team already and it's not even close. I'm still in the wait and see mode overall but this is a much better team than last years.

Good signs so far, but competition has been poor.

I think we'll be a tough out on nights we shoot the 3 well, but that's most teams, honestly.

I'm curious to see how our bigs handle a front court with better athletes and offensive skill.

I want to see more from Moore. I'm still not sold that he's a great lateral athlete ,but clearly he can really jump. The sample size is small so I hope to feel differently later in the season.

It's hard not to at least be cautiously optimistic overall, and I'm confident our backcourt is much deeper and well-rounded than we've seen in recent years.

Hugley is the best big man we have had in years. At least 5 plus years. Uzan has been bad so far this season. He’s got to pick it up if we are going to finish in the top half of the conference

Uzan has struggled thus far, but he continues to be the guy I'm least worried about. He will be just fine.

I'm holding out judgement of Hugley until we face better competition, but I hope you're right. If so, we're going to have a great season.

Uzan is the guy I'm most worried about....there seems like there is something going on there. Hopefully he proves me wrong....it is early, but maybe he is just pressing like Boulder says. The good news is that we have the depth to overcome it for now.

I wonder if all the talk of him being an NBA talent put more pressure on him. I wouldn't have minded if that talk had held off for a year or so.

We have a season of data on him, so I'm not going to let a small sample size like 4 games change my mind. He didn't suddenly lose 20% on his shooting percentages.

Yes it's soon to judge. That said, sophomore slump has damaged more than a few careers through the years. Some with the Sooners even in recent times, like Bieniemy.

How the heck is Florida Atlantic ranked top 10?
