The OU women enter conference play with a 5-7 record and the men 10-1.

Last year the men finished in the lower half of the conference standings and the women tied for third. At the beginning of the conference season no way anyone would have come close to predicting that outcome.

In pre-conference play last year the women were 5-6 and the men were guess what? 10-1.

Both made the NCAA with an early exit. I think the presence of Trae Young helped the men get in as the NCAA is always looking for a way to make a buck and Trae would bring in the folks. I also suspect that Kyler Murray had a lot to do with the Sooner football team making the finals this year. Dream matchup. Heisman Trophy winner vs strong candidate for the award.

I'll go out on a limb here and say Kyler Murray was the foremost reason OU making the CFP

Here's a crazy thought. OU made the tournament because their resume warranted it. And OU made the playoff for the same reason. Not as fun as ridiculous conspiracy theories, I know.

What I'd love someone to explain is how Trae Young making the tournament had the potential to make the NCAA a single cent. The NCAA tournament is a huge success every year precisely because it doesn't depend on individual players. OU made the tournament and was given an 11:20 tip Thursday morning. Do you think the NCAA expected millions of extra Americans to stay home from work to watch Trae, or fly to attend the game? It's insane to me how many OU basketball fans can't understand that based on everything the committee has said and consistently done over the past few years, our team did enough looking at the season as a whole to earn their bid. The only way Trae and Kyler factor in is that they are great players who helped lead their teams to the postseason.

I’ll go out of further limb and say without Kyler Murray OU wouldn’t have scored as many points this year.

Agreed. Just about every “expert” had OU in & they didn’t play the play-in game.

Last year's guard play was never this good outside of Trae doing insane stuff. I do see us getting off to a bit of a slow start in Big 12 play with 2 of the first 3 games being on the road to the two best teams in conference.

Not to pile on, but we are in fact 11-1 heading into conference play. This team has worked hard, don't short change them :D

And if I see one more article (think one was from Oklahoma) that says our only loss was to Wisconsin at home. Grrrrr

OU is better this year than last up to this point. If they were some how able to play this year team would win..and this year team would slow TY down

The OU women also only made the tournament last year due to Sherri Coale's reputation.
