Selection Show Thread

It appears that if you're at least a decent/mediocre P5 team....then you're getting into the tournament....at least from this year's bracket.

Looks like we have a decent opportunity to get the monkey off our back followed by a decent chance to get the chimpanzee off as well. After that the orangutan will be more difficult.

I like that 1-4, each region looks fairly even. That hasn't always been the case.

21 mins into the ESPN show all they have talked about is Kentucky....the duke loveathon is up next

OU should handle Albany. It goes without saying OU could get beat if they play poorly, but they'd have to play REALLY poorly.

I think everyone should tap the brakes on the draw vs. Providence or, presumably, Dayton.

Providence is quietly a really strong team. They beat Notre Dame and played Villanova to within 2 points in the Big East tournament. Their best player, LaDontae Henton, is a 6'6" wing and can get really hot. He could be a serious mismatch for OU.

Dayton is also underseeded. They're tournament tested (made Elite 8 last year) and playing them in their home state is no bargain.

OU better bring their A game if they want to make it to the second weekend.

Kentucky at the top of the #1 seeds came as no surprise.

Anyone think they'll make it to the finals, or are the Cats destined for an upset along the way? Going undeated in the regular season and making it through the NCAA tourney without a loss is a tall order for any team. It's not like they won every game in the regular season by a large margin.

I don't think I've seen a team with that length and athleticism at the college level in a long time. Talent differential seems enormous this year compared to past years with "super" teams.

Not sure it matters but they didn't even cut down the nets today, has anyone ever done that after winning their conf tourney ?

Coach Cal said they forgot. Were in a hurry to catch the flight back home, and literally just forgot. Seemed sincere/honest in saying that as well.

26 years late, but thanks to the committee for giving us a shot at revenge against virginia.

Dayton is underseeded...that game, especially because it's in OH is a little scary.

Great point. Obviously, we need to take care of business against Albany first, but Dayton in OH would not be fun. Providence is no pushover if we were to get them either, but at least it would not feel like a "road" game.

i like buffalo. they are a sweet 16 team if moss's ankle is 100%. if they execute the way they did last night, look out wvu...

Saw a blurb about Kentucky on SportsCenter the other day. The only NBA team with more length is the Portland Trailblazers. Let that sink in for a minute.

Yeah it's ridiculous watching guards trying to go to the rim against them. Three or four guys just taking turns altering and blocking their shot.

Yes, I remember that game vividly. I was a junior in high school and my team's season had ended abruptly to a team we were better than in an unexpected loss. I remember thinking that OU team was better than Virginia, but there was something unsettling about that game and that we would lose. We had survived a first round game against East Tennessee who had Keith "Mister" Jennings and then we had played arguably our best game of the year against La Tech (won by 40+). That OU team, although very talented with King and Blaylock, was up and down. That 88-89 season almost seemed like a hangover from the year before when we had lost to KU in the Finals.

I'm sure there were more than a few Cavs players who wanted a little revenge themselves for OU blowing them off the map in Hawaii the year before too.

Don't believe that for a second - Cal has worked hard to motivate these kids all year and I'm sure let them know a million times what their ultimate goal is. Either way forgetting to celebrate gives pretty much the same connotation as refusing to celebrate.

Cocky as hell but I don't think anybody can disagree with Cal's methods. Even money to win it all is pretty crazy.
