I read the following:

The irony of life. Interesting that Little ended up at Oklahoma.

Little was ranked 30 in 2012 HoopGurlz. In the same 2012 recruiting class, A&M's Courtney Walker from Oklahoma City was ranked 31 in 2012 HoopGurlz.

Walker had committed to Oklahoma ... decommitted ... and then signed with A&M.

Sherri Coale was reported as unhappy with Coach Blair about Walker.
Blair's response: well, Oklahoma crosses the river all the time and gets our football players.

Has anyone previously heard that Sherri was upset with Blair for signing Walker? I've never heard that and, if true, I wonder why.

That's an Aggie argument if I've ever heard one. Their Internet fans used to like to bemoan TEXAS players leaving the state and that if they had any TEXAS school offers, they needed to stay in the state of TEXAS. Nevermind that schools can only sign 25 a year, nevermind that only about five (UT, A&M, Tech, Baylor and TCU) are part of big time conferences, you should forego your self interest and feelings and stay in TEXAS!

I doubt that Sherri was miffed at Blair, but just miffed about the situation, where a player in your own backyard goes elsewhere. It's happened before and will happen again. Move on.

I doubt it too. Afterall, it is a coaches' job to sign the best players they can. That includes those who are committed to other schools.

I know that this board is PG at worst, but I admit that I had dirty evil thoughts when I pictured Aggie fans reacting to Blair's comments. He knows they're football fans first and foremost, and trashing us and other non-SEC seems gets them... excited.

To their credit, they were arguably the best four-loss, no-conference championship no-BCS-bowl, no-repeat-Heisman football team in the country last season

Wasnt Courtney's leaving about as much our fault as A&M's coaxing? I've forgotten the story.

That is what I heard. Let's face it Courtney brings athleticism we don't have too much of.

Typical texas! Nevermind that the state of texas has almost doubled in population over the last 30 years or so and the vast majority of that growth has been migration from other states and countries. When I lived in Houston in early 90's an article in Houston Chronicle showed the states which moved to texas the most in a year. Louisiana was first and Oklahoma second. And I'd guess Oklahoma is in the Top 3 to 5 every year in migration to arrogant texas, if not higher. So, these people will still have ties to whatever state their families migrated from and have no allegiance to arrogant texas and the same for any families migrating from arrogant texas.

A good number of the Texas players who leave the state exit because their school has no history with any of the Texas universities. In the area near me, there are several predominantly African-American highschools, most of which has occurred in the past thirty years. If you go back fifty years, the SWC schools didn't accept African-Americans, the first being about 1968. We saw athletes going to Michigan State (Bubba Smith), Ohio State (Rod Gerard), and other parts north and east. In football, Oklahoma picked up a good number of these during the Switzer years as Texas still had no African-Americans.

If you ask the local kids where they are going to college, none mention Texas, Texas Tech, TCU, or other big Texas schools. They are more likely to mention Prairie View A&M, East Texas, Texas-Stephensville, Texas-Arlington, or a junior college. Texas doesn't even contact the schools---unless they have a star athlete. There is zero relationship between Texas, Texas A&M, and Tech and the local schools. Unless you are a star athlete, you know that they have no interest in you.

It is interesting that from this area, OU gets a lot of football players, and there is probably more of a connection to the OU football program than to the Texas or A&M programs. The only major basketball players recently from this area went to Kansas (Arthur) and Connecticut (Jefferson). OU hits the north side of the Metroplex for basketball, but not really the south. Atkins of Texas comes from just outside this area and is somewhat of a transition in thinking since that is not UT country. There are no loyalties to the in-state schools in this group, and they are just as likely to end up at Connecticut and Rutgers as they are to remain in this area. Stanford and USC have benefited from the lack of loyalty to Texas schools of Houston-area girls. I think Kim has been able to use some of their anger to build her program at Baylor.

Badger, I don't think the person who made that comment was a Aggie fan.

On texags they have a thread titled " Will OU be relevant again?"

one poster said Walker wanted to be an Aggie becuase of there "ENGR program" and another said she picked A&M against her Mom's wishes, this could mean anything.. but the stuff out there about the Walker's and OU falling out might not be true, if her mom still wanted her at OU.
