Was watching the usa scrimmage and fran was talking about how the college game should go to a 24 second clock. What does everyone think? I would be in favor of it.:ed

I don't think so because college is supposed to be a level below the NBA. That's why I'm also in favor of the 1 foot in rule in College Football.

Im good with 30 or 28, i just think that it still needs to be longer than the NBA shot clock

I like 35 because it allows for a variety of different types of offenses. The NBA thrives on uniformity, which is great--you know what you are going to get and it's pretty exciting. College games are cool because you might have an up-tempo team playing the Princeton offense, and you get a chance to see some very interesting matchups.

If they shorten the shot clock, I think they should also eliminate the 10 second midcourt rule. Of course, if they shorten the shot clock, then players don't have to play much, if any, defense.......which would be a lot like the NBA.

Agree with this.

One of the great things about college sports is the contrast in styles employed by different coaches. Speeding up the shot clock would really reduce that.

I don't think it really matters that much. I would prefer 24 because it would basically force more of a full court game, and it would be a lot more fun to watch. But it's not that big a deal to me.

I don't think it should be shortened. The college game is great now. Cutting the clock will change the game to a more one on one style like the NBA and I think that is bad.

That's one of the things that is great about the NBA. The NBA style isn't really the problem. In fact of the 3 major pro sports the NBA is probably the most fun to watch.

Most American sports fans would probably disagree.

NFL is not the most fun brand of football to watch. The college game is so much better to me than the NFL it's not even funny.

To you and to most people in Oklahoma where there is no NFL. That fact remains that the NFL much better ratings and is way more popular on the National level

Viewership is a bad standard to judge quality by. The NFL has great ratings because it is a business so it can carefully choose to locate in big markets and can advertise better. That isn't to say that the NFL is or is not better than college, but I think a lot of the appeal is the way they are different. You can't run Tech's or Florida's offense in the NFL. Which, similarly is an appeal of the longer shot clock in college. You can run more complex offenses because of it which is something I like about the college game. I guess I am just saying the difference between the leagues is good for fans, in my opinion.

For me, the :35 is perfect. It allows teams to be patient and run their stuff and it forces teams to play defense.

College ball would turn into total pick and roll basketball and one on one at the end of the clock a lot more than at present.

I like to see movement and execution, not three guys standing around at the 3-point line with two guys playing.

Also he NFL each team has 1 game a week for about 25 or 26 weeks a year including the playoffs. Compared to 3 or 4 games a week for the NBA. 5-6 for the MLB. College Football you have more regional choices so the ratings probably aren't as good for individual games.

Leave it be, 35 seconds is just fine for the college game.

Now if we can just get a shot clock in high school, that would be perfect.

Is that an Oklahoma thing? Does any state have a shot clock for high school basketball?
