Sloth to enter NBA Draft.

Aldrich is prime example of how great Bill Self is and why he is such a masterful recruiter. He can tell kids...I made Cole Aldrich an all-american and lottery pick think what I can do with you. :woot
A very valid point. He has developed players extremely well.

It takes a special man to take a 7ft McDonald's All-American who was rated the number 2 center into a Lotto pick and All-American.

Yes, people who know basketball can see that.

but wait I thought he was a dumb, goofy sloth that wasn't that good?
I'm confused. And what's this rated #2 center? Scout had Aldrich as the #7 center in his class behind guys like DeAndre Jordan, Soloman Alabi and Mac Koshwal. RSCI had guys like Kosto Koufus, Jordan and JJ Hickson ahead of him. So let's not get too carried away here. Aldrich improved tremendously at KU and Self and Manning turned him into an all-american and a probable lotto pick.

In the last 5-6 years please name all the other center prospects that were all-americans and lottery picks.
You know guys like Samardo Samuels, Brian Zoubek, DeAndre Jordan, BJ Mullens, Tyler Zeller, etc. LOL
Please name them. Thanks in advance

This makes the Kansas game a possible win now, being in Norman. Not because we will be so great and not because Kansas will be bad. But if Xavier and Sloth came back, KU would still be a dominant team even without Collins. But losing Collins, Henry and Aldrich gives me hope that we could pull an upset at home.

It may only be a 25% chance that we win, but this years KU game was a 0% chance and if they'd come to Norman it would have only been 5% IMO. So I'll take the 25. :)

It will be interesting. It's doubtful that OU will be better than last year and could very well be significantly worse. KU loses a ton but should still be really good.

How is it possible for OU to be "significantly worse"? Are they going to finish 9-22??

But he is also really slow, came in with no back to basket game whatsoever other than some goofy line drive jump hook that hits the front of the rim and by sheer force rolls over. He left with a moderate back to the basket game and somewhat better lateral foot speed. Maybe it wasn't so much the development of Aldrich that was key for him, maybe it was more how Self's defense funneled guys to him. Either way, he is still a project for the NBA, but will get some good minutes, block some shots, get some putbacks and help a team some. He'll also get paid.

I see why he left. He probably won't be that much better at this time next year, and he will also have logged more miles on a 7 foot body. You have to start getting paid when you can, and I doubt his stock would have been much higher anyways. If I were a Kansas fan, I would be excited to start allowing Marcus Morris to go off on people and not have to defer. He's much more talented than Cole.

Well, take the Top 4 players off a terrible team and replace with players that aren't as good and there you go. Depending on who OU signs I think 9-22 isn't out of the question.

OU needs a horrible non-conference schedule in the worst way. Going to Maui is a disaster. (Granted, that was scheduled before we knew all this would happen) We could go 0 fer very easily in Maui, even Chaminade will give us a tough game.

Exactly. Agree with everything. The fact is the guys I listed were similarly ranked as Aldrich and none were all-americans and lottery picks.
And I agree 100% about Marcus Morris. I was telling all my KU buddies the 2nd half of the year, KU was MUCH better and more fluid offensively with the Morris twins in the game together. Marcus Morris will be a strong candidate for Big 12 POY next year. He was KU's best player the 2nd half of this season. He's unstoppable as a scorer. I also expect Thomas Robinson to be much improved and get a chance to shine. So to me a front line of the Morris twins and Thomas Robinson and then 7'0 Withey some spot minutes is better than this years.
PG is where KU is going to have a huge let down unless they land Selby or Knight and to a lesser extent than those two, Lamb.

Well for Capel's sake I hope you're wrong.

If WW declares for the draft which I think he will I don't see anyway OU is better than last year unless they get a Terrence Jones or another top 25 type kid.

As someone who routinely pulls for KU to lose (it is what it is) I was always much more concerned when Marcus had good post position as opposed to Cole. He is so much more decisive with the ball. It will be interesting to see who fills the leadership role for KU next year. Now you better drop the KU talk, surely buttermaker has his filter set tonight.

Yes. Kid led the Big 12 in FG% at like 56%. And that was shooting a lot of perimeter shots in 15 footers out to 3's. His versatility will be key for KU next year. I think you'll see the offensive run thru him most of the time which excites me.

The only way OU finishes with more than 13 wins next year is to land all the juco recruiting targets.

Marquise Carter, Aziz Ndaiye, Jawanza Poland, and another post (Washington?) are must haves at this point.

Those first 3 juco players would probably start next season, if that tells you how important they would be.

Neal, TE, and Taj started together didn't they, or was Neal 6th man all year?

I believe they all started, or at least played starter minutes.

I would expect Poland, Carter, and Aziz to be similar to those guys.. except Aziz wont be as good as Taj Gray, but he would have an impact in his own way (rebounding, blocking shots).

Yea I was trying to think back to the last time OU started 3 JUCO's and knew it would be Sampson, lol. That guy.

Put Everett, Gray, and Neal on next years team and you should be in the NCAA Tournament and finish in the top 5 of the Big 12.
