Smart and Forte commit to OSU

Nonsense.

Your ENTIRE reason that OU wasn't getting them was that Smart would go somewhere like UT/KU/NC. They didn't. That means your entire premise was wrong. Just b/c he (they) didn't go to OU, doesn't mean you were right. Doesn't mean there was "no way" OU could have landed them. Truth be told, I think we finished second for both kids. That isn't a situation you walk away from.

I guess we can both agree that it doesn't matter now and it is time to find the next SOONER player?

Any ideas on who the next in line will be?

we should only recruit guys who commit to us...

seriously though, this is the one thing i was worried about with kruger, his recruiting ability or style, however you wanna say it... we wont see many highly rated high school kids... most of the high rated guys that we end up with will be via juco... that's just how K rolls...

Ford IS landing top talent....and then doing very little with it.

I would like to see some of it landing in Norman as well......give Kruger some time and I think we will see some of it coming to Norman.....it is easy to be impatient though. LOL

Who's next?

Buddy Hield?

Prince Ibeh?

Woodard?
Hield is supposed to vist for Mizzou, will be interesting to see how that turns out.

OU doesn't seem to be involved in the Ibeh race.

I beter Woodard ends up at Tulsa.

Man, OSU is loading up.

Next Year:

PG: Cezar Guerrero/Phil Forte
SG: Markel Brown/Marcus Smart
SF: Lebryan Nash/JP Olukemi
PF: Michael Cobbins/Darrell Williams
C: Phillip Jurick/Marec Soucek

Yikes.
Smart will start, somewhere for them. No doubt in my mind. He's too smart, too competitive not to start.

I disagree. I think OU offers one of LK's best chances at landing the "better" recruits. Really too much to ask of him for that to show up in 2012. If we don't land a few top 100 kids, including probably one top 50 kid in the 2013 class, I'll start worrying a little bit.

Besides, Kelvin did pretty good getting his studs from JUCO (transfer), versus HS kids.

What is Ford getting done? He has 1 NCAA tournament win in his entire career.

We should have swept him last year.

As for these Dallas area recruits all of a sudden picking inbred U. I have personally been to T Boone Pickens office in Preston Center to pitch a deal. Does anybody seriously think there is no connection between these Dallas hoops recruits selecting Oklahoma A&M and Pickens feeding them or their handlers money?

The guy has always been a sleaze and there is a 90% chance he will get caught funneling money to these players.

So the aggies are cheating but we are the ones on probation again?

I'd hate to think that they are slick enough to pull it off and we couldn't.

On why UNC wasn't the choice, well it's obvious. Smart and Forte were a package. UNC didn't want to waste a scholly on Forte. Hell, Forte's parents were KU boosters and the kid still didn't get a KU offer despite what the TW reported. OSU gave Forte a firm offer, and they committed together. It's that simple. OSU was willing to give Forte, a mid major recruit who is a 5'10" not very athletic SG, a scholarship. Not too many other schools on Smart's list was going to do this.

OSU fans could say the exact same thing about the last two years of basketball. Boca's inner OSU fan is showing, "should of" is the OSU mantra!!

That is OSU's mantra because they don't teach you the difference between 'of' and 'have' in Stillwater.

I think that is a little over-simplified, but your point is taken.

Vicinity to "home" was a major player also.

What is Ford getting done? Ray Penn and Reger Dowell were the highest rated recruits he has brought in, in the past couple of recruiting classes he has brought in:

A.) LeBryan Nash - MCDAA. Lotto pick.
B.) Marcus Smart - MCDAA. Top 10 player nationally.
C.) JP Olukemi - JCAA. #1 juco in country
D.) Philip Jurick - JCAA. #1 juco center in country.
E.) Markel Brown - Gigantic talent/athletic upgrade over Keiton Page.
F.) Cezar Guerrero - #15 point guard in country. Won national high school 3pt shooting contest.

They are, and I not exaggerating, about twice as talented as OU is right now, if not more. If you count 2012 recruits, they are more than that.

Rivals had articles when forte got an offer from KU. Also smart said both him and forte also had offers from ou and osu.

Like I said - he's doing a good job. Those who can't see that are hiding their heads in the Oklahoma crimson clay.

It is shocking they went to OSU. Neither one of these kids ever mentioned the aggies to our coaches.
Marcus Smart is a superstar and Forte is a nice player. This is a big loss for the Sooners.

I can't find it right now, but Sam probably can, there was a recruiting guy that basically said that OU was in the lead for Smart before the OSU visit. I don't know what changed, but Ford must have been doing something right (or wrong?) to get them to recruit on the spot.

Having some of the nicest new facilities in the country and having LeBryan Nash on campus probably helped a little bit. Forte said he loved how OSU used Page and knew he would fit in at OSU after seeing Page out there.

No one should model their collegiate career after Keiton Page.

True. He could have said he wanted to emulate Darrell Williams.

Zing.

Maybe Kruger and company can get Smart and Forte to still come on an official....

I had heard that the staff really wanted Forte and would take him even without Marcus. Doesn't OSU already have an undersized shooting guard committed?

What a great get for the Aggies if this sticks. I threw up a bit in my mouth when I heard the news...:facepalm
