So, who are our centers?

Why are you constantly making this kind of posts? Especially when we haven't seen half of the team play? reeks of dooshbaggery

It's summer and we are talking basketball on a basketball board... Perhaps you had a different idea?

Ok, lets start with Nebraska. Would you rather have Carl Blair and TJ Taylor (who isnt a point guard) or Kamyron Brown and Lance Jeter?

Kamyron Brown led Oregon in assists for two years and was the #18 point guard in the country coming out of high school. He is 3 years removed from high school and has 2 years of Pac-10 experience.

Lance Jeter made the all-newcomer team in the Big 12, started every game, and had 134 assists on the year. He is also 6'3'' 220 and great on defense. He nearly averaged 8 points and 4 rebounds a game along with the good assist numbers.

At power forward its simple... Christian Standhardinger is a good player and is going to be better than CJ Washington. He is bigger, more talented, has a year of Big 12 play under his belt, and he performed very well last year.

Center is another one... Brian Diaz is better than Andrew Fitzgerald. He is 6'11'', had a good true freshman year. He can shoot just as good as Fitz, but is bigger and has more of a post game.

If you have seen those guys play as true freshman you would pick them over CJ and Fitz. I saw them play quite a bit and those two are going to be very good college players.

I guess what I have to say about your beliefs on Tech and Nebraska is this. Sorry that I am not quick to write off our own players with the assumption other teams of similar talent level are just going to overwhelm us at home. Sorry for wanting to be an OU fan and assume guys like Fitz and Pledger have improved this physical condition this past summer so their skills will be showcased more this season. Sorry for believing that talented guys like Cameron Clark and T.J. Taylor can't come in and compare with Tech's motley crew of backcourt players. Sorry for thinking two hungry, hardworking and successful juco players posts can't hang with the foreign stiffs Doc Sadler has assembled in Lincoln.

the post was asking who our center is and you transform it into another one of your circle jerks about nebraska or colorado. You really are the antithesis of faithful...and thats not a good thing.

Well, thats the beauty of it. On paper, OU should be really bad. But, sometimes with a team full of newcomers and hungry guys like Fitz and Pledger returning you never know what you are going to get.

Fitz and Pledger could be really good, Clark could be awesome, Blair could be steady, and OU could have a pretty good season. That very well might happen.

Im not really expecting it to, but its very much a possibility.

I just want this team to hit the floor so we can see these guys play...

Juco players and foreign stiffs are only good, if they go somewhere other than OU.

If we lose to Tech, Colorado AND Nebraska at home, then Capel should be fired. It's that simple.

I wanted OU to sign CJ Washington. He should be the starting PF. he didnt get much recruiting interest but DM vouched for him, and he isnt a big juco guy.

I'm just giving you a hard time. You seem to love the Jucos and Foreign players that the Nebraskas and Techs of the world bring in, but bedowngrade the ones that OU brings in.

I just made a post about signing an all juco class that I would be thrilled with, lol.

Then why are you bagging on our current juco's so much in this thread?

abd has the crystal ball and the tarot cards out again. BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!:facepalm

I don't think we will have a true center. We'll just have a bunch of post guys playing that spot like we usually did under Kelvin. True centers are hard to find. Maybe Ahmed or whatever his name is can grow into one in a couple of years. I think we'll see a varity of lineups with Washington, Thompson, Fitz and anyone else I'm forgetting playing the post positions. Anyone of them could be a "center" a lot under Kelvin we never really had a true center.

Yep.

OU will steal 3-4 games somewhere, but I wouldnt be surprised to see them lose to Nebraska, Tech, or Colorado at home in front of 5,000 fans. Would you? Tech beat OU at home last year.

Here are the expected matchups... see if you agree or not:

Colorado vs. OU
Point Guards: Colorado
Shooting Guards: Colorado
Small Forwards: Colorado
Power Forwards: Colorado
Centers: Oklahoma

Nebraska vs. OU
Point Guards: Nebraska
Shooting Guards: Tie
Small Forwards: Oklahoma
Power Forwards: Nebraska
Centers: Nebraska

Texas Tech vs. OU
Point Guards: Texas Tech
Shooting Guards: Texas Tech
Small Forwards: Oklahoma
Power Forwards: Texas Tech
Centers: Tie

Anyone disagree with that right now?

The problem I have with this is if you did the same comparison last year, you would have us winning 20+ games. Returning FOY (pre-season all-american), two other McDAAs, Pledger and Fitz. Look how that turned out for us. College basketball is mostly determined by effort. If we out work our opponents (both now in the off-season and during the games), we will win close to 20 games. Obviously, you will sometimes run up against extremely talented teams that will beat you no matter what.

This. I think we'll be a lot better completely based on effort. Last year a lot of our guys just gave up.
