And that's why the seniors speak after the basketball game on Senior night.
Did he re-read before playing Hypocrite U in Big 12 tourney???
At this point, the University of Tulsa being sent to Norman for a softball regional is seemingly a given.
The Hurricane is playing in the Norman Regional for the third consecutive season and for the seventh time in 10 NCAA Tournament appearances. TU faces Missouri at 3:30 p.m. Friday, with the winner advancing to face No. 4 overall seed Oklahoma or Boston University.
“I always go into it expecting to be sent to Norman, to be honest with you,” coach John Bargfeldt said. “I think the dynamic of Wichita State being in our conference and the fact that they are in (the NCAA field), that left a little possibility that we could get sent somewhere else because we knew we couldn’t both be sent there.
“They had a better RPI than we did, so you can understand why they would send us to Norman since we’re the higher RPI team.”
The Oklahoma softball team tied a school record by having all eight of its nominees named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division I All-Central Regional Team, including four first-team honorees, the NFCA announced Thursday.
Seniors Paige Parker and Nicole Pendley, junior Sydney Romero and freshman Jocelyn Alo were selected for the first team. Juniors Shay Knighten and Caleigh Clifton were placed on the second team, while senior Kelsey Arnold and freshman Nicole Mendes were named to the third team.
Selections are largely based on geography, but for the third consecutive year, Tulsa will play in the Norman Regional.
“Well, Tulsa, like duh,” OU coach Patty Gasso said Thursday. “Quite honestly, it’s hard for both teams because we keep doing this over and over, and it’s just … they’re good, we’re good. But to see the same team, I think they would say the same thing. It’s like, come on. Let’s give each team an experience.”
As for Missouri, Gasso wasn’t too surprised. The selection made sense, but it also created the possibility of an interesting showdown. OU pitchers Paige Lowary and Parker Conrad are Missouri transfers. They could face their old school in a matchup with major implications.
“I felt confident we’d get somebody out of the SEC,” Gasso said. “Did I look at it and go, ‘Ooh, storyline, storyline?’ No."
> My mother was a single mom who raised us — I have an older brother and younger sister — and she worked really, really hard and had a couple of jobs. But when her jobs were over, we lived right next to a park with four softball diamonds and a basketball court. She would come home from work, and we would go to the park and practice.
> She was living her life to allow us to live our life. She put us through private school. She was always tired, but she never complained. So I just felt like there was nothing I can’t do because I watched her do it.
> My mom was never in the stands when I was playing. She was working.
> My first job was fast food. I worked at Burger King. I called myself the Burger Queen. I took a lot of pride in it. I wanted to be the fastest in the drive-thru. That is where I learned work ethic.
> When it comes to my philosophy, I think top of the list is blue collar. I don’t know any other way. Hard work. Never surrendering. Fearless. Loyalty. Just fight.
Only coverage of OU Tulsa I can find is on The Football Braniacs. What’s wrong with this picture? ESPN Gamecenter is blank, this thread’s got nothing, Sooner Sports draws a blank.
Anyone know the score?
