OSU got a lead off walk then the UT SS bobbled a chopper then threw it into RF allowing the runner to go to third. UT then intentionally walked the bases loaded and next batter hit another chop to short and the runner from third beat the throw home but watching it live I thought she was out.

Texas had 3 errors and allowed only 2 hits. Great example were games are often lost and not won.

What kind of week has it been?

I checked in on the Baylor/Kansas live stats in the bottom of the second. Baylor led 7-0. I looked them up after the game. Kansas won 9-8.

Wow! Baylor (14-16; 1-4) is bad.

Game one: OU 11 Utah 2 in six.

Saile went 3 2/3. Juarez pitched the last 2 1/3.

Elam hit a three run home run to give OU a 5-0 lead. She also had a triple. The big hitters didn't really have a great game. Clifton did get a two run home run. Romero doubled home a run, as did Knighten.

OSU 3 Texas 4

Tech 8 (or 6) Iowa State 2

Last I heard, Kansas was leading in the rubber game with Baylor, 4-1 in the fifth.

OU run ruled Utah again, 13-3 in five.

Tech won 8-4 to take 2 of 3 from Iowa State

Kansas won 7-1 to take two of three from Baylor.

Texas won 4-3 to win one of three from OSU.

A lot of teams lost two or more this past week. Florida is 3-6 in conference play. Texas demonstrated a lack of ability to score against good competition. They have only lost a couple of games if they score two or more runs. There are a lot of important series this week: Texas at Texas Tech. The SEC finally gets interesting.

Dropped out: Louisiana-Lafayette, if you want to be ranked, you need to play someone at some time. Beating Troy and Georgia Southern doesn't cut it.

Lombardi continues to lose players at Oregon. This time the program is attacked by the player's dad. Also MacGrandle is a player that transfer to Oregon this year after playing her freshman season at A&M.

http://stats.ncaa.org/player/index?...layer_seq=1977317&year_stat_category_id=14661

Losing MacGrandle may be nothing more than lancing a boil. She was bombed by teams like Incarnate Word and Connecticut as a freshman, before the presumed injury. This year, she was bombed by everyone. I don't know why you even consider using her except to give your real pitchers relief. Daddy? Sounds like a problem parent. Apparently, he thinks his daughter is a pitcher. Maybe she was in HS.

I think there are three teams that stand out, and I'm not really sure of one of them. UCLA has played everything within fifty miles of the coast. When other teams have gone on the road, they have lost a game or so, like FSU going to Arizona, or even Alabama going to A&M. Finally get them away from their home field or home state, and life isn't so easy.

Right now, I really believe that OU would win 7 of ten from UCLA or Florida State, probably nine of ten from Bama, Tennessee, or LSU. I think FSU may be slightly better than UCLA. They have won away from home. The only thing that gives UCLA credibility is that they won at Washington.

Teams 4--25 would probably play 50:50.

No question MacGrandle could be a malcontent and perhaps take after her father in that regard. However this is the 10th player to leave the Oregon program six of which left after or during fall ball. That at least is a red flag for Melyssa's program.

My nephew is an Oregon grad and follows their softball team. He indicates that there is a lot of grumbling among the fans and has concerns whether Melyssa will be given adequate time to turn the program around.

They have been throwing MacGrandle because they only have 3 pitchers on staff the ace who transferred from Va Tech, MacGrandle and a freshman Krueger who has a 9.45 era in 20 innning pitched.

Don't forget 3 top quality pitchers left the program with the hiring of Lombardi. Kleist was an first team All American, Elish was a 2nd team All American and the Balint was first team All Pac 12 as freshman and a finalist for National Freshman of the Year.

Also Baliant has gone on the record that there is mistrust between her and both the athletic department and Lombardi. Perhaps that is the motivation for others leaving as well.

I suspect the athletic department is the root of the problem based on the Canzano article linked below but Melyssa is going to have to be the one to fix it if Oregon will give her time which I think will take several years. It is difficult to recruit top players when you are get beat badly and frequently. Balints comments regarding trust is not going to help either.

I didn't read all of the links but I did read part of the last one. Is the Reader's Digest version this: A popular coach was fired by the Athletic Department and the players are taking their anger out on the new coach?

Yes if we assume that not giving him the raise was the equivalent of firing him . However 6 of the transferrees occurred after or during fall ball under Lombardi and Balint said she did not trust Melyssa so who knows how much of a factor she is.

I would tell my kid they had to know a coach at least a year before forming a firm opinion, but that's just me! ;)

The idiocy of the entire Oregon circumstance if had Oregon decided to give Mike White a $200,000 raise he would have stayed. The didn't and he took the Texas job. Oregon then turned around and hired Melyssa for about $120,000 more than Mike White was making so for an additional $80,000 they could have kept White and an intact top 3-5 team with virtually everyone returning for 2019.

Instead they have a mess with a disgruntled fan base that will be years in fixing if it can be fixed.

I read the same talking points every time I log onto robocoach and peruse any Oregon or Texas thread. It gets tiresome there and it's equally tiresome – maybe more so – coming from an OU fan.

If it's not accurate, what is accurate?
