The thing that caught my attention during the "Fall season" was Romero's average. I realize that it was not against quality pitching. But, it is difficult to go 16-18 in batting practice. Maybe, you can do that in slow pitch.

Never would have thought that Erin Miller who arguably is an incredible outfielder would lose a position to Fale Aviu, a frosh. Patti is playing for the future. I also find it interesting that Lundberg moved to OF.

I think there may be two reasons. First, Erin wasn't our best defensive player by any means. It cost us a game or two when balls fell in for triples that should probably have been caught. Secondly, she didn't really hit in critical situations all that well. She was in a run-producing slot.

I looked back at the Fall stats, as best I could keep them with not everything reported on livestats, and Aviu had a good hitting Fall. She was six for thirteen in what I saw, with a double and two triples. One of the things that we will probably be more concerned about this year will be strikeouts. If you don't have the home run ball as much, you need to move runners along. As I understand, Romero, Knighten, and Aviu were very difficult to strikeout in HS and summer ball.

I look for Self to have a good year. She was still one of my favorites in clutch situations. Makes contact.
