Take this for what it is worth:

A friend of mine who is a former college coach told me the following regarding girls basketball recruiting in Texas:

- there is a certain Texas AAU team (one of the few big ones in Texas so you can connect the dots) whose head coach charges 10k to "work" at a college's camp in order for a school to have a legit shot to land one of his kids

- I was legitamitely surprised that this was going on in the girls game

- OU doesn't have camps so you can draw the conclusion that Coach Coale isn't playing that game.

- The current low level coach who told my buddy about this said that Littel at OSU also refuses to pay the AAU coach

Pretty interesting...wonder which teams are paying the guy.

Wow.

Ive never heard how, but I have heard that there is a lot of sketchy things going on in AAU circles like such. Doesn't surprise me.

This has been common practice for years on the east coast. We wouldn't play the game then, either. You can guess who did (not UConn).

My guess is there is a delay or poorer monitoring/awareness in the women's game because somehow the guy is getting away with it at a clip of 10k per camp. Maybe he "volunteers" or shows up unofficially and gets the money under the table.

The coach told my friend that with the rising salaries in WCBB for both head coaches and their assistants that there is more money (and more pressure) to succumb to these AAU type deals.

I am still a little shocked that this stuff goes on in the girls game.

At any rate, I'm glad Coach Coale doesn't "play the game." Just like I'm glad Lon doesn't.

Network and be coordial with club coaches? Absolutely. Pay them? No thanks.

So, for only $10,000, Sherri can become a "better recruiter" like.............

It will be interesting to see what skilledserv and/or ielle have to say on this topic.

Does anybody really believe that Kim Mulkey has respect for any rules in life other than her own?

She's a piece alright!

She yelled at security last night to go get someone down past end of the bench in the fourth quarter. I'm sure she was distracted. Security guy went down there and he wasn't there a minute and came back so I'm sure there was nothing to it but she wanted to scare someone to not yell anymore.

Just another failure of the national communists against athletes. They have a million rules against miniscule "offenses" and none where it counts.
