There has been a lot of discussion on this board over the years about the empty seats in the LNC when season ticket holders fail to show up for games. This new program is clearly an attempt to eliminate or at least curb that problem.

I see this as an important step in the right direction. Thoughts?

Oklahoma Athletics is excited to announce "Sooners Give Back," a new program that will allow men's and women's basketball season ticket holders the chance to contribute the individual tickets of their choice to local non-profit organizations and elementary schools at no cost.

They also have a deal where you can buy tickets for the Christmas break games for 5 dollars a piece that will be donated to kids in the area. I couldn't find a link online, but here is the number you can call 405-325-2469.

They really seem to be making a nice push to get more fans in the LNC with programs like this. As has been discussed, this is key for recruiting. Hope fans choose to come to more games or do something like this with their tickets.

Also, I like the Take Notice campaign. That seems like something designed for recruiting as well. Good stuff.

Is it Nov. 7 yet?

Another way this program will help, I hope, is with fans like me. Upon reading about it, I immediately went to the site and bought 2 season tickets even though I don't plan to use them, but to donate them. I live 200 miles away, so I like this way of supporting basketball by directly doing something to help address the attendance problem.....:OUbball-logo:
