Spangler is taking it pretty hard fellas

I've missed gimme putts in competition to lose a match or a tournament. It's tough emotionally, but the only affected party is yourself. I'm pretty confident it's worse when it's a team sport. He makes that shot 95% of the time. As does Heild and the others who missed shots at the rim.

No one should be surprised that he cares. The young man works hard. He's often up against bigger, physical guys and he wins more than his share of those battles. Most of us appreciate that more than the W's.

Don't get me wrong, I was looking forward to a rubber match with KU so I'm disappointed. But as someone posted earlier, things happen. Ryan will bounce back and I look forward to watching him next year.

People might get mad at this but I thought Iowa state just looked better.

Agreed. I think the only thing we really did better last night was make some threes early. I think our upsides are similar, but I think ISU is the more "dangerous" team of the two.

We easily out rebounded them last night as well.

One of the weaknesses on this team that isn't talked about a lot is that we don't have guys who are effective at getting their own shot via the dribble. Woodard is the best on the team and his height or lack thereof is a detriment from time to time. ISU has two guys (Niang and Morris) who can get their own shot. Cam was able to get his own shot last year and that is missed on this team.

Thats certainly a fair assessment.

I thought we did some good things and I was impressed that we came back from their second half run ... but we were playing uphill the whole second half.

ISU was playing excellent on-ball defense, very tight, and we didnt make them pay for it early enough. We needed to come tight off picks and turn to the hole to pick up more fouls earlier. We didnt until much later.

Spangler will make it up. its easier to let it go when it's not your last game. Can't wait to see what he does in the dance.

The look on Fred hoiberg' face when spangler missed the lay up should tell you all you need to know about our team. These two teams are about as evenly matched as two teams can be...they dodged a bullet by not having to go to OT against a very good team.

Exactly. It was also a very classy response.

I'd have to say he's my second favorite coach in the game right now.

Probably the best or 2nd best coach in the Big 12 as well. I watch a lot of games where teams just run out there in a base offense and base defense, never really adjusting or being multiple/different. ISU always seems to have an answer. You can definitely see the NBA influence in how he coaches.

Any competitor should be taking it hard. I'm sure he's beaten himself up over it. I also feel reasonably confident thatnKruger, the other coaches, and his teammates have helped him get through it.

I also think he'll be a better player for having gone through this.

As long as the "real fans" aren't upset when other players mess up, I don't have a problem with it.

Some of you should go back to your posts and see how you posted negative comments about Cousins' technical foul at ISU. I'm sure he also felt bad about that.
