The other night Sherri started Ortiz, Little, Carter, Sharane, and Kaylon.

Would you make any changes to that lineup?

I am a Nicole fan, and dislike the turnovers from Carter, but......I might keep the same starting five because
1) Carter does a lot of things well, including one on one defense better than Nicole, Gabby-at least for now, and Peyton. Use that defense.
2) Nicole coming off the bench can add scoring and energy. A good sixth person is maybe more important than being a starter, especially a talented versatile bb player like Nicole.
3) mix and match of players is still being worked on, so it also may depend on strength/make up of the team we are playing.

Right now I am okay with the line up as it is. When you look at the minutes played, only Carter didn't put in 30 mins. I think as we move toward the meat of the schedule, Maddie, Nicole, and LaNesia will garner more minutes. It will depend on fouls, but with the talent we have right now, even that won't be too much of a factor. We have the luxury of some really talented kids right now, albeit young. Nicole or Maddie may earn a starting job, but I'm good with them being sixth and seventh off the bench.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Mike and roc. I think the number of minutes played will be based on how effective they are. The starting five may be our best defensive unit to start a game. Nicole, Maddie, and LaNesia bring something off the bench that is effective. We don't know whether Treece or Pierre-Louis will get the most minutes, but they will be essential.

I lean toward inserting Nicole into the starting lineup. She is probably the best 3 pt shooter we have and we need that BTA shooting ability to change the scoreboard and open up the interior. That will help us to have a true inside/outside offense. I also believe Kornet can rebound better than Carter. I also am more comfortable with the ball in Kornet's hands. JMO

We need Maddie to develop into the 5th starter.

I think she will be a clear starter as soon as she gains confidence and strength in her wheels. It might be good strategy to start her until she gets back into scoring/defense shape. Sub when she needs it until she's back to what I believe is her natural productive self.

Starting 5 for 1st game and starting 5 for the 1st conference game are, of course, 2 different things but my hope for starting the season is to see Maddie in and Carter out. That would mean Maddie has returned to original form and would strengthen the team. I have no problems with the present 5 except I would split time and starts between Carter and Kornet. We have to let Gabbi develop into a confident, poised PG.

We have seven, possibly eight players who deserve starter-type minutes. There's no need to argue over which five start the game; they will likely all be key contributors and Carter, Nicole and Maddie will likely all start at different times.

Sherri can't start seven players, though it WOULD be nice if she could figure out a way to get by with it.

I agree it's not an earth shattering decision but, I do think with a young team it is somewhat important to have a set starting five ASAP so they can get used to playing together. While I know Sherri is experimenting (and I don't disagree with that), that doesn't really build continuity on the court.
