An article on Rivals (link $) says Stevie has enough credits to graduate in 2012 and is considering leaving HS early because his head coach might be taking another job.

I have no idea how true this is but the piece has Eric Bossi's byline. It's an article that has recruiting blurbs for each major conference. As far as I know Bossi is generally well respected.

No "might be" about it: http://ouhoops.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25933

Hmmm. The writer (Eric Bossi) says Missouri is sitting in the best position for Clark.

One of the guys for the Mizzou rivals site spoke to Clark recently at the EYBL event in Dallas (I think), and apparently Clark was talking as if he was headed to Mizzou (although I know from posts here he's talked the same way about OU; might just be how he talks).

I've read people suggesting he might be willing to walk on his first year while redshirting. If he's able to, that would probably be a good decision (otherwise he'll be limiting his options quite a bit).

This seems like a such a rash decision all based on his coach leaving. For his sake I hope he doesn't follow through.

Sam - what are you hearing?

Rash, maybe. But if he's not into the high school experience then it's probably a good move long-term.

Missouri's other point guard commit for 2013 recently left his high school for a prep school. He's from Columbia, and a lot of fans complained that he was giving up an opportunity to help his local legend grow, missing out on his senior year, etc. But the kid really doesn't care about anything but basketball. He's one of those guys who eats, sleeps and breaths the sport. Playing in a northeast prep league with other D1 athletes (same team as a top 5 2014 kid) is a lot more appealing to him than competing for a state title or going to prom. For most people, his decision would be a bad one. But for him, it makes perfect sense.

Point being, graduating a year early to enroll in college might seem like a rash decision for many, but it might be the right move for Clark. He'll progress more as a player and be more prepared from day one to play at a high level after a redshirt year. If he's ready to do it physically and mentally (and academically, which it sounds like he is), then I see no reason to postpone it.

I've also heard he might only graduate a semester early. Don't know if that's true or not.

I think he should just graduate early, there is no reason for him to stay at the HS level he isnt getting any better. After watching him play this past weekend he is basically unguardable at this level he has proven everything he can.

I see Mrs. Clark's attempt to contact Coach Kruger as a good sign. The question is, can anything be done to bring Stevie in a year early?

Is an academic scholarship a possiblity? He appears to have the grades for it. Or would an academic schollie count against our 13 ships? If OU is where Stevie wants to be, I'm just hoping against hope that something can be worked out. Find a way, Lon!

Agreed. I have no idea HOW to make it happen, but we have to find a way. I would assume the academic route would work, since we're doing that with Cole? Maybe Spangler pays his way since a) I think his family has some money, and b) he is good friends with Clark, and might want to help him out.

I believe there are rules to prevent using a full academic scholarship to a player, like that. They have to count towards one of your 13, to prevent any exploitation. I'm sure like everything else, there are loopholes, though.

Well, I'm pretty sure we are doing that with Cole next year, so it is possible.

I wonder if it makes a difference where the academic monies come from? I know the big scholarship I got for college wasn't from the school itself, but an outside foundation (iirc).

I think that's if the kid is taken off scholarship, not if they show up as a "walk on".

I think it all depends on who Douglass hires, which I have no clue who they will right now.

FWIW to this board, I don't get the impression that OU is in a great position for Stevie Clark. But I am getting the impression that Isaiah Cousins could be a impact player as a freshman and even more down the road.

Re: TABC girls All-Star game this past weekend

Question:
Nicole Kornet was scheduled to play in the TABC All-star game in
San Antonio this past weekend which was held at Trinity University.
Has anyone heard any results, or anything about the game?
...thank you
