Stevie Clark

It was more that she immediately jumped to call into to Traber on the air, without knowing the facts of the situation. It is a concern that someone would handle that situation so publicly, could be a problem in the future. She would have been better served to contact him directly, instead of trying to defend her son on the air like she did. I understand it, but it looks bad. I wouldn't be surprised if his teammates give him some crap about it.

Exactly! Any student athlete that has been as celebrated as he has will have to endure public scrutiny, good or bad, whenever something happens. Parents who react so publicly really are doing their children a disservice, in spite of trying to defend the child. There are numerous instances of parents reacting the same as Stevie's Mom but the vast majority would remain silent or handle privately, as such should be done IMO. Why would anyone pay attention to buffoon JT??? Really???

You would hope that she already knew the facts. I didn't listen to the show but I find it hard to believe that the Mother of the player didn't know why he was sent home.

She knows why he was sent home. She called in the show all heated because she didn't know the facts about what had been said on the radio.

I agree with those who say that mothers and fathers should stay out of their son's life and let him grow up when he's old enough to go to college. Except, of course, when the coaches need an assist in correcting a problem and ask for their help.

That said, Stevie Clark's mother is no match for the mother of a kid who played at KU several years ago. I know posters like BigTime, CoolM, OUHoops and Boksooner will remember him.

The player's mother seemed to be involved every phase of his life. She openly criticized the coaches on the Jayhawk web sites for not playing her son more, or for using him the wrong way. She posted under the name, "KLM." I believe KLM was the pseudonym for "Keith Lunsford's Mom."

Any of you guys remember the player and the mother I'm talking about?

Oh my goodness. I remember Keith Langford's Mom. She was a character. She was always on Phog jumping to her son's defense. She was definitely what we now call a helicopter mom.

CoolM remembers her, too. Don't you CoolM? ;)

A "character" is putting it mildly. KLM was one of the most outspoken posters I have ever seen, especially for the mother of a KU player. She spoke her mind without regard to the victims of her caustic criticism. Depite the fact that her son was an important member of the team, KU coaches were not immune to her scorn.

She didn't like Kelvin Sampson much either. Truth is, one had to wonder if she liked anyone, except maybe herself? :ez-laugh:

As I recall, she wasn't shy about criticizing her son on occasion either. She either had or seemed to think she had some coaching background and had tips for everyone.
