After the game I saw something where someone was very negative about the students "storming the floor". I can't help but disagree with whomever made that statement because that is what this program needs. We need the students to get involved more and yesterday was a great way to bring them back to the seats.

Now i don't say storm the floor every game but when you have a team like Kansas come into LN and the Sooners beat them, then enjoy the moment. Another positive to "storming the floor" there were several recruits there yesterday and the loud crowd and the storming the floor after a great win can only help OU with their decisions.

My only regret, I wasn't there to see the action in person but it look great on tv.

Boomer Sooner to all who were there.:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:clap:woot

I agree completely, okietex. That was the first time the fans stormed the court since 1995, so there should be no negativity surrounding that at all. Plus, I think it's a bad idea to discourage the fans from doing just about anything that demonstrates a passion for OU hoops. If anyone watched, some of the players were jumping up and down with the fans...let them all enjoy the moment for crying out loud.

The SEC has a rule against storming the court for safety reasons. When South Carolina upset Kentucky a few years back, their fans came down in droves, and the SEC levied a $25K fine against the school. The players' reaction? "They can afford it."

And speaking of storming the court, I can't help to think back to 2003. That was the year when three opponents fans stormed the court after beating OU : Texas, OSU and Missouri.

One of the problems with OU and I'm one of them when I'm there, is that the donors a lot of the big donors are older people and they like to sit on their hands. Now I will be there first to say that as we get older it's hard to get up and down but we sure can get loud and clap our hands in support and to many fans at LN also include football just sit and watch. I have been around a long time and I can't do the things I use to be I still have a voice and when I'm in town for a bb game I yell as loud as possible and make as much noise as possible. I do get a few negative looks from my older counter parts but so what.

To bring this program back everybody needs to make noise and when appropriate
"storm the floor"

We rushed the court in '99. I was a freshmen in the student section when we beat texas.

Was happy we rushed yesterday. It was cathartic.

I don't see why a Duke or UNC should ever storm the court. But OU hasn't really been a good program for most of the last decade now. This was probably the biggest home win since 2006. That's 7 years now

The folks on SportsCenter said it was the first win over a top 5 opponent in 7 years.

The students did a great job throughout the entire game and were entitled to storm the floor. It doesn't hurt for recruits who might have been at the game or watching on TV to see that, either.

It was funny to watch the people in the yellow shirts try to stop it. The RufNex seemed to lead the way and then the dam broke. But there were a few folks in yellow shirts trying to stop people even after there were hundreds on the court. :facepalm

I was really glad to see it. Still it was a small demonstration compared with Notre Dame after they beat Louisville in 5 OT's. Their court was flooded wall to wall almonst immediately.

I could see the yellow shirts trying to stop it. Kruger should let them know that if we beat someone like Kansas to let the dam burst. I could see that more and more finally got on the court and then the TV coveage broke away. I hope the court finally got full.

Looked like everyone that got there was having a great time. We need to celebrate things like this.

yes we do need to celebrate things like that. VERY glad they rushed the court.

Hmmm. I don't ever remember storming the court at the LNC, and I certainly would have been one of the people to do it in '99.

It's been a long time since college basketball fans in the state of Oklahoma have had anything to be excited about. Can't blame college students for getting caught up in the moment. Good for them.

The students stormed the court twice in Kelvin's first year. Did they storm the court after we beat Maryland at home while Hollis was here?

I was at that game, and I don't think they did, but I can't be for sure.

In general, I'm against OU storming the field/court. That said, with where our program is today, and where it's been in recent years, I had no problem with the students doing it last night. None at all.

I loved it. Storming in football I would not like. As mentioned I absolutely love the passion they displayed. I have to think any recruits that were there had to love the experience. We dog out fans, and rightly so, for being indifferent. They weren't last night!

I watched the game on TV and it seemed that it was a very small portion of the crowd (mostly students) that stormed the court. It was definitely not a full-scale storming like you sometimes see when a home team beats a very highly ranked team. Whatever the case, I too thought it was great – and appropriate.

But I saw one Internet report that Bill Self "rolled his eyes" when he saw the home crowd's reaction. The gist of the article was that Self thought it was classless for the OU fans to react that way to beating a KU team that had just dropped its third game in a row. For what it's worth, I think Self is the classless one, especially after the way he tried to get the officials to give Cam Clark a technical for that phantom elbow in the closing seconds of the game. I know lots of people in our state think Self is one of the best coaches in the U.S., but I think he's an arrogant and condescending jerk.

the jayhawk internet fans hate us for storming the floor. they're so cute

I keep seeing mention (including in a Norman Transcript story) of the fact that KU had two straight losses entering yesterday's game, as some sort of justification, it seems, for downgrading our win.

Well, what doesn't get mentioned, of course, is that we also entered the game on a two-game losing streak.

I have a picture of myself my brother and 4 friends on the court.
