Sweet 16 games

yes. and they did something I like in a team. which is take a lead and keep the other team at arm's length. hold the lead to win. Hogs were playing good ball coming in.
the hogs issue all year was not playing any defense .. zona just scored at will ..

Purdue will be a different challenge for sure ..

Kelvin Sampson can coach the hell out of mid teams with zero first or second rounders. Then he gets 2 5 stars and one of the best classes in the nation and can't get past the Sweet Sixteen. Oh Kelvin.

That offense was rough last night. Was rooting for UH - no offense but Uzan looked pretty bad. No one could make any shots consistently.

What's ironic about that is the fact that Kelvin's highest rated recruiting class during his time at OU turned out to be arguably his least productive one. After leading OU to the Final Four and Elite Eight in back-to-back years, everything was rolling at OU. Kelvin signed his first top-10 class in 2003 which included 5 freshmen headlined by Burger Boy Drew Lavender, Brandon Foust and Lawrence MacKenzie. The other two frosh were Jimmy Tobias and Larry Turner. I think there was a JUCO role player (Jaison Williams?) and a walk-on named Kellen Sampson as well. The last two stayed at OU for their eligibility, but the other five lasted 1-2 years before transferring out.

uzan regresssed this year

No question. His stats were pretty much down across the board, especially FG percentage. If you look at his stats for his entire four years, you see a decent progression from his sophomore year to his junior year, but nothing that screams "WOW". He had better players around him at Houston. As it turned out, we missed Oweh a lot more than Uzan.

His best class would have been his last one...had he not left OU. Damion James, Scottie Reynolds, Keith Clark, Jeremy Mayfield....and Kelvin once said we would have also landed Darrell Arthur...had he not left. We all know how good those players turned out to be. I was bummed about losing that class for years. That class had 3 McD's AA in it, assuming we would have landed Arthur.

IIRC, lavender beefed with Sampson (think he couldn't cut it with sampson's coaching), same with Foust. McKenzie wanted to be a PG, I think, and went to Minnesota and did alright there. Don't remember Tobias. Turner i think got kicked off for the ganja. And jaison Williams was an play role player.
