T Ferguson to Bama

Good for Avery! When I used to referee in a select youth league in The Woodlands (Tx), Avery used to watch his son Avery Jr while he was HC of the Dallas Mavericks. One game I called his son for a violation at the end of a crucial game which his son's team ended up losing. Avery came down to the court after the game and thanked me for making that call ..... said his son needed to learn (he broke from the top of the key on a free throw as the ball left the shooter's hand). After that we would visit for a couple of minutes after many of the games. Avery Sr is a first class guy.

Avery Jr eventually played in Plano his senior year, and went to A&M and has now transferred to 'Bama where Avery Sr coaches.

I just don't get why Alabama...

They have an ex-NBA player and coach, Avery Johnson, as the 'Bama HC. He played in the NBA for 16 seasons and has 7 years as an NBA head coach with a .577 winning percentage and took a team to the NBA finals. He has also been an announcer for ESPN. He knows basketball. Especially the NBA game. If Ferguson wants to play in the league, playing for Avery and Bama is a decent choice. I'm sure he is hoping to be one-and-done.

Also, Ferguson knows both Avery's from AAU ball in the Dallas area.

This cat was LOCKED AND LOADED to KU.

He was soft commit.

Ol AJ put together a nice pitch.

well .577 doesn't get you in the NCAA's :ez-roll:

.444 in the B12 standings got Texas and OSU in the NCAA's last year.

I forgot to mention Avery was a former NBA Coach of the Year. Lon Kruger was .361 in his 3 NBA coaching seasons, John Caliperi was .391 in 3 years, Rick Pitino was .466 in 6 years, and Larry Brown was just .548. I'm just saying playing for an ex-NBA player and coach like Avery Johnson was a good choice for Ferguson who has aspirations of playing in the NBA. If you research Avery, you'll see his entire philosophy revolves around being the attacker or aggressor...even on defense. That sounds an awful lot like Kruger's style.

You asked why Ferguson picked Bama. I was just giving you a plausible reason why. Another possible reason was he watched the Alabama sorority recruiting video that went virile and got removed from youtube......:dance005:
