...know that's difficult to do given how the game developed. But look at last night much like the committee views a season, overall body of work. If you take the statistics last night at face value, without watching the game, you would have said OU has zero shot to win. The defense in the second half was porous, but lets get one thing straight, ISU missed a lot of shots the first half they normally make, which contributed to the early lead. Kruger even said so at halftime. The run was coming, everyone knew it.

I know the fire Lon threads will reign supreme, but this one last night falls completely on talent, especially the backcourt. I know that sounds weird because Buddy put up a good #, but when the going gets tough, you need your guards to back it out and get a stop or a bucket...plain and simple. We essentially played six guys last night, you need some help off the bench for a change of pace (Booker from his first show on was atrocious). Iowa State was close to be in the bonus early, but OU went away from the restricted area.

Our deficiencies inside are what they are when it comes to size, so we can't expect those guys to dig us out. As one of the lead guards, you have to dictate the game. Unfortunately, in the second half, they played on their heels.

Yes it sucks to blow that lead, but when you take a step back, talent-wise, this team is about where they should be. We won a lot of games last year we shouldn't have, this season the law of averages is catching up.

I think this was a terrible loss but anyone asking for Lon to be fired does not have their head on straight.

Thanks, campbest, for giving us a sane and reasonable thread so soon after a demoralizing loss. I managed to stay away from the board all day – just now came online to see if I could find a more substantive perspective among the mountain of insanity. I'm happy to say you provided it.

I don't always agree with everything you post, and I'm certain you don't always agree with me. But I consider you a thoughtful poster.

Some of the things I've seen while browsing through today's threads have left me feeling worse than I felt after our collapse at Hilton. But you've managed to lift my spirits, albeit just a little. So, thanks again for your thoughtful post.

It was just simple...they just took OU one on one and OU couldn't handle them in the 2nd half
