Tanveer Bhullar

7'3, 300-lb. Canadian prospect... Unless he's stiff as a board, that's intriguing for the size alone.

He has a brother playing at New Mexico State - 7'5" 355lbs - averaged 10 and 7 his freshman year.

I would have zero problem with that kid. If nothing else he lets you practice against a really big guy. If he blossoms, he could be a star.

I agree. If the coaches see that he exhibits heart, and a strong desire to improve, then I am all for a 7’3” player that may take some time to truly develop. The potential payoff could be big time. Even with 13 scholarship slots available, no more than 10 players get minutes in a season. I can see "taking a chance" on a 7'3" player that at least has a chance to blossom.

Strengths:
Bhullar has tremendous size that immediately changes the game. At seven-foot-three with a wide body, he is immovable in the paint and virtually unstoppable when able to establish position near the block. He is the more naturally skilled of the two brothers and comfortable facing the basket out to ... for full access to RecruitingNation become an Insider

300 # isn't that much for a 7'3 guy.
Hasheem Thabeet weighs 270 and he looks small next to Pecovic.
Intriguing prospect and lots of teams would take him.
He might have heard Oklahoma is Indian country.

While this kid doesn't look like a Josh Heytvelt size/athleticism freak combo by any stretch, I wonder if perhaps the lack of interest this late into the signing period for a guy with his measurables isn't due to his unusual background and profile.

In other words, if he were Tanzanian or Turkish, for that matter, instead of being a Canadian national with Indian parents, would his recruitment be more competitive? I remember us being the leader on Thabeet late into his recruitment before Josh Boone foolishly declared for the NBA and opened a scholly at UConn. Bhullar fits a similar profile and skill set (raw, questionable agility, clearly a project, yet the biggest body available for immediate eligibility). There's the part of me who realizes, with his brother already contributing in D1, that he may be still available because of limited talent. But what if he just resists fitting a mold?

Sidenote: Can you guys imagine a frontline of Blake and Hash in 2008? HOLY GOD. Instant Final Four appearance. Of all the recent OU recruiting near-misses, I have to believe that's the one that most adversely affected the program.

Wasn't his brother in this past NCAAs? Thought I remember this huge guy who wasn't real athletic but took up a LOT of space. Needed some polish on his skills and conditioning but maybe playing in several spurts the younger brother could be effective.

I watched the NMSU-St. Louis game in the NCAA tournament, and it was the only game I saw the elder Bhullar. He was exploited numerous time as his man beat him down the court, but on the rare occasion he was able to get position and the ball, he scored like he was being guarded by little kids. Very strange, interesting player to watch.

What I did not see is any dunking over smaller competition in that video. He seemed to have nice touch around the rim. But it looked like no hops.

Is Tanveer Bhullar a 2013 or a 2014 recruit? According to a tweet made 8 months ago by Alex Kline of Recruit Scoop:
"For family reasons, 2013 center Tanveer Bhullar reclassified back to his original class of 2014 & will attend Father Henry Carr in Canada."

A lot can change in 8 months, so we cannot be certain that this is still accurate information.
