*******TaShawn Thomas to Oklahoma*******

I laughed last night when telling a buddy of mine about the good Thomas news. He said," I sure hope they get him eligible for next season, I don't want to have to listen to another one of those best player in the gym but can't play story lines."

We all want him to play next year, but if we take out the recruiting issues that having him on campus for two years creates, wouldn't it be better to have him eligible in 2 years, when all our players are a year more experienced, Walker has a year of D1 under his belt, and guys like Buford/Lattin/McNeace have all played a season?

Whether it is this year or next, I cannot wait to watch both Thomas and Spangler banging for rebounds at the same time.

Practice should be fun to watch. I cannot remember a previous OU team that had this much frontcourt depth. Both experience and youth. Brawn and "skinny" tall guys. Quite an assortment.

No recruiting issues! I know that class would be huge, but think of the expierence and depth. plus things always come up unexpected...

We need this kid right now. It isn't just my opinion. Talking to the press post season, Kruger said," we need to get bigger, stronger, and tougher." Thomas is the missing piece.

Without him, while taking another step forward, next season's team will still have some hard to overcome liabilities.

Re: TaShawn Thomas to Oklahoma

If he gets the waiver, its Sweet 16 or bust for this year's team.

oh god. dont start stuff like that.

That IS awesome news though. Very skilled team OU will have!!!

"But both McNeace and Lattin, as incoming freshmen, are raw and unproven. Thomas plans to try to teach the young guys what he's learned throughout his career.

"I feel like, with the experience I have, I think I can help them out a lot," Thomas said. "I feel like I can contribute more there because they've got those younger guys, and I can pass on my experience onto them."

If he has to sit out his experience in practice will still be huge.

I agree 100%. We need him next season to cover a glaring weakness.

I've been happy about this news all day long!!!

It's so nice to have these things start going OUR way once again!

I obviously don't anything goes wrong either way but I think this kid benefits us more as a program if he is eligible immediately. Ideally, he plays this season, schools the youngsters, we add Manyang to fill the post, and attack 15-16 and beyond with a more balanced roster as far as class breakdown.

I'm excited to add this guy. We needed an experienced big to go with Spangler. I like the make up of this team.

All we can go off is last year which was 39 of 62 waivers were granted for a rate of 63%.

Hopefully our department plays the right chords in why he wanted to leave a school, not for a basic coaching change but one with a coach with a questionable NCAA history.
