It's a slow time for OU basketball news so I'm throwing this out there. TaShawn is working out for the Lakers. I know he previously has worked out for the Mavs. Just reading his twitter account, he is a classy kid. I hope he makes in somewhere even if it's a good international league.

Yeah Tashawn was a great addition to this team, and we would have been nowhere near as good without him. I don't think he's an NBA player (I'd obviously love to be wrong), but he certainly matches up well with guys who have had extremely successful careers internationally.

I later found this interview with TaShawn at the Lakers workouts. He talks about his OU and Houston experiences. He said it was 4th team to workout with including Utah, Mavs, Clippers, and Lakers. I thought he did a good job with the interview.

Its a huge accomplishment to even get a workout with the Lakers. Very few can say they earned that opportunity.

This is from Sooner Sports. I guess TaShawn is a busy man this week.

NORMAN — Former Sooner TaShawn Thomas is one of 63 players who is participating in the NBA Combine in Chicago this week. The on-court portion of the combine will take place Thursday and Friday as NBA coaches, general managers and scouts observe prospects in advance of the league's draft on June 25.

Thomas, the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year and a third-team all-league pick as a senior this past season after averaging 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds a game, and the other participants underwent body measurements Wednesday. Thomas measured at 6 feet, 7.25 inches in height in bare feet and 6 feet, 8 inches in shoes. He weighed 240.2 pounds with a 9-foot standing reach and a wingspan of 7 feet, 2 inches.

A starter in all 131 of his career games, Thomas transferred to OU after starring at the University of Houston for three seasons. He finished his career with 1,793 points, 1,061 rebounds and 262 blocks, good for respective per-game averages of 13.7, 8.1 and 2.0. He shot .559 from the field in his four seasons.

As a senior, Thomas helped the Sooners to their first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance since 2009. The three-time Big 12 Newcomer of the Week led the conference in field goal percentage (.519) and ranked fourth in blocks (1.5 per game), seventh in rebounding and 14th in scoring. He posted five double-doubles on the year to give him 39 in his career.

Thomas surpassed the 20-point mark on three occasions last year, scoring a season-high 25 on 9-for-12 shooting in a December win at Tulsa.
