Dunbar's coach is taking the team to the University of Florida this summer. They have team camps for teams to come and participate.

The Texas Tech website has info on their camps this summer. We are missing the opportunity to get them on campus. Have never heard the real reason they are not having them and probably never will. They are pretty secretive at OU. Another example of this is the Hansmeyer situation and her exodus from the program and do notr think she has been to any games or reunions since.

Are we maybe saying "the answer wasn't on this web site so OU is secretive?" Who have we asked?

I remember Joe C. saying they were discontinuing the women's camp and Sherri Coale was there with him when it was announced. I don't remember a reason given. I've been trying to find the press release when they announced it but, so far, I haven't been able to.

Personally, I feel like they are dropping a valuable recruiting tool. What better way is there to build relationships with youngsters and their families than the summer camps?

Did OU have team camps? I was thinking that Sherri only had individual camps but I could be wrong.

Usually her last week of camp was for the Team Camp. I had a couple of girls that I coached a few years back that attended with their high school teams. Real shame the University chose to discontinue a valuable recruiting tool.

If all 15 ships are endowed, one would think they could find a few donors/sponsors to help cover the unfunded cost of camps.

Here's the only thing in writing I've ever seen from OU on this subject: https://soonersessions.com/

Every time I read this letter I am more convinced it is BS. You can afford to take the team around the world but cannot afford the unfunded part of one of your best recruiting tools. There are plenty of sports at OU both men and women that lose money. Think of the cost of taking the softball team to Calif. 2 or 3 times for a week at a time! Not saying we should not do it but this seems small in comparison

I think dropping these camps is absolutely crazy, I don't care what the reason is. It is clearly a solid way to identify top players and bolster recruiting.

I think the stated/undstated reasons of costs and insurance liability is absolutely a lie and a bunch of spin/crap, especially when the coach has made her legitimate disdain for recruiting ont he AAU circuit crystal clear to the entire world.

Perhaps, Sherri's camp just wasn't that hot a ticket.

I don't know what the real answer is, but not having this camp seems stupid.

My gut feeling was that this decision was made above Coales head and she probably did not have a say in the decision. The big question is WHY?

Are we saying that we don't believe the only explanation that we have been given?

I don't think we're going to get another one.

That means that any conjecture is the very definition of speculation. This ought to get us to....

I don't believe the explanation. I think the truth will come out.

I agree, Norm. I will change my mind if I see this becoming a trend at other universities across the country.

Previously, we had a team camp, and individual camp (that I think was a day camp), and an elite camp.

Was the elite camp by invitation only? I thought I had read that somewhere previously.

Of course it's all speculation and opinion, Syb. That's because that is really all anyone has to base their comments upon because there has been no adequate, logical reason for this decision.

If every other top 10 coach and program was doing it, then we all might say "OK" this makes sense, but no one else seems to be doing it.
