Team Camps

I'm thinking with Sherri taking over the US team, her plate will be full until July.
It seems to me her OU camps were in June and maybe that is the reason for cancelling the camps. I'm hoping that is the case and she will continue them next year. Yes, I'm reaching a little here. :facepalm

I saw where the camps at Iowa State are filling up fast. Do all the other Big 12 schools besides OU have camps in the summer?

I checked all the Big XII schools after the announcement was made of our camps cancellation. If memory serves, I think West Virginia was the only other school that doesn't have camps, all the others do. I still think it is a mistake on OU's part cancelling an excellent recruiting tool. But what do I know. :facepalm

Not only do the camps give the kids a chance to play under our coaches, see how they coach, what they expect, get to know them personally, etc, but it also gives our coaches a chance to do some teaching and evaluating to see how the players respond, how hard they work, what skills they possess against good competition, etc.

It's a two-way street and I can't figure out for the life of me why they would abandon the camps. If the camps were not worthwhile, then why did OU waste their time and money over the last several years?

One year Liberty Christian was here as a team. OU needs a elite camp. If, I remember McCowan, Hearn, and Turner have attended camp at OU in the past. It helps the players bond with the coach and team.

If I was still an enterprising journalist, I would file a state open records request on this matter to determine why this occurred.

Someone just needs to force OU's hand and they will have no choice but to fess up.
