Just announced it via YouTube. So there's that.

I bet someone else transfers. The players are not going to be happy about the coaching change.

That might be a good thing for UT in the long run. Probably won't help them next year, as I don't think the new coach will have much of a chance to recruit better replacements, but I found their talent "lacking" as the season went on. Especially on the perimeter.

Lacking in production, maybe, but definitely not on paper. UT had two MickeyD All-Americans on their roster, plus another six players who were ranked in the top 100 coming out of high school. If I recall from the research I did several weeks ago, two of the six were ranked in the top 50. I agree that their mix of players was not conducive to the kind of success one would expect from a group of high-profile players.

I'd dare say no other team in the Big 12, except maybe KU, could boast that kind of talent on their roster. If the stars by a recruit's name mean anything at all, the Longhorn's were loaded last season.

IMHO, the only thing "lacking" was coaching, which is why Barnes lost his job. I have said for years that he underachieves with the talent he brings in, and it finally caught up to him.

They needed perimeter shooting.

They had a "shoot-first" PG in Taylor and he played out of control at times. Their only semi-legitimate threats from the outside were Felix, Yancy, and Lammert....but all of those guys were streaky. The horns had talent, but it wasn't a collection of talent that made the sum of the parts better. Throw in Rick Barnes dictatorial coaching style (you screw up, you are benched immediately) and you can see why this was a dysfunctional team that struggled with any type of consistency.

Turner was always a one-and-done player. Even if Barnes had stayed.

Barnes never tried to break his players' ego, imo.

I can't stand John Calipari but he can break guys of their egos and get them to compete for each other and still be a lottery pick.

I always thought Texas players played for themselves first and the team second.

Few teams have done less with more than the Horns.

Texas should played through turner and Ridley on every pos. of every game.

Turner is a perfect example of why one and dones are not worth it. In general, at least.
