Texas Tech

Dungee

C. DungeeG -- 7-16 3-7 1-1 2 7 9 2 3 0 0 3 18

18 points nine rebounds no turnovers three steals

Nice line!!!!

1 turnover in the second half and out score them 42-23. Peyton never could figure out her short shots, but did everything else well. Chelsea, Gabbi, and Gioya came to play and Vivi was solid. Good road win, now heal up for the week and lets get everyone back for the Horns.

We played a bad first half, but did NOT cause us to hang our head and quit. Instead we kept playing hard, and once again without 2 of our top 7 players, we won.
TEAM TEAM TEAM
8 of 29 from 3, but we still found the fortitude to beat a team we should beat. Peyton shot nothing from the field and we still won. Chelsea, and a little from many, enough points to win.
I will repeat what I said when some thought Maddies loss would sink us, we have other players, but they have to step up------ and they did. 2-0 without 2 of our regular players, but we can't do it against teams coming up.
Come cheer for us against Texas, and hope we get Maddie and T'Ona back.

Big win, even though Tech isn't good. First road win without Maddie.

Gabbi is playing probably the best of her career and Chelsea was outstanding! I love her moxie!

Looks like Little missed her wheaties this morning. Every thing was short.

Gabbi appears to have grown up. Maybe Sherri lost faith in her a little early last year and started going to Edwards. She seems to be the Ortiz we recruited now.

Great game by Dungee. Unfortunately she had a rough go on defense and on the boards because of being forced to defend a big most of the night. they did a nice job of pulling ViVi out with one of their bigs and forcing one of our guards to handle the other big. But Dungee appears to have grown up some as well. Maybe the temporary loss of Maddie has helped her gain the confidence she needed.

I am stunned. Two straight games without Maddie, and we fall behind by double digits with no hope of ever making a shot. Then, someone catches fire. Against WV, it was Vivi. Tonight, Dungee? Really? What a time for a freshman to decide that she wants to play up to her potential!

I thought there was a fifty-fifty chance that we would lose both of these games. I had no idea who would score. Especially tonight with Peyton getting one point, is there any way that you think we would win if Peyton getting one?

Gabbi has become the leader on the floor that she was recruited to be. You know, if Maddie comes back healthy, we might be in the Elite Eight or Final Four.

Maybe we can make the TEMPORARY loss of 2 players a gain, by the confidence other players gain by having to step up for the team. And you are right Syb, we might make a nice NCAA run.

Thank you Chelsea, Gabbi, ViVi and, early on, Carter.

I'm going back to the stats for the last few games. Im a bit concerned the Peyton may be teetering a on a bit of an offensive slump.

I'm reminded of a time when the Cardinals lost a key starter to injury, and the world suddenly discovered Nelson Briles who went 14-5 and led them to the World Series. Sometimes, a team thrives on necessity when each must perform rather than sitting back and let someone else do the job. Vivi, Gabbi, and, now, Chelsea have stepped up.

I can't believe it.

The good news is that we have found some go-to players. Peyton can get hot. Usually, it seems to come after someone else gets hot. But, we are winning now because other players score. In a sense, they are gaining on Peyton. But, they are developing what they have.

I agree with both of you, but we can't have her in a slump at crunch time during both tournaments, so I am hoping she shoots her way out of it by regular season's end.

She is playing some really good defense on the other hand.

She's probably been worn out and that is why her shots are off.

I think you may be right. If the legs are tired, the shots will be short. Peyton has been logging some long valuable minutes. She will have all this coming week to rest and be ready for Texas. Hopefully Maddie might be back. We shall see. Gabbi has really elevated her game and proud that Chelsea is playing above her youth.
