A team with more transfers than we have, and many of them were from non-P5 schools. A coach who had never been a D-1 head coach. And look at where they are in the standings and national rankings. That is one impressive coaching job.

A good friend of mine is a Tech grad and donor. Not that he has any "inner circle" insight, but he had been told by people inside that program that their current coach (Mark Adams) was really the "brains" behind their recent success. And that they wouldn't miss much of a beat losing Beard. The early returns pretty much confirm that.

My understanding was that Adams was definitely the architect of the defense, so it’s not a surprise they are still fantastic on that end. But the overall success this quickly just goes to show that it’s very much possible to win a lot of games even when the roster turns over following a coaching change. And Tech isn’t exactly full of first-round talent.

Tech coach has certainly done a great job but he also has more talent. His players are better than ours. Period.

And he was the one who brought most of them there. And their talent absolutely doesn’t scream top 10, potential 2-seed.
