We are one-third of the way through the conference season, and the big guns are yet to meet each other. Baylor and Texas are both 6-0, and OU is 5-1. Baylor and Texas beat WV in Morgantown. We let that one get away. Now, we get Austin.

These are the players who play at least ten minutes per game.
Texas shoots 45.09% from the field, 34.03% from three. They only shoot 65..17% from the line. They hold their opponents to 35.21% from the field and 27.14% from three. The key to a Texas win is that they dominate the boards: 43.88 to 31.62. Few teams can beat you if they get 12 fewer rebounds. Texas gets over 16 offensive boards per game. They tend to get about one and a half fewer turnovers and two more blocks than their opponents.
Texas had a good pre-conference schedule this year: at Stanford, Mississippi State, and Connecticut. They got South Carolina in Austin, along with Tennessee. They beat only Tennessee. Right now, they might well also take South Carolina and Stanford. They are better for having played those teams. But, they don't appear to be a team quite in the Baylor range yet.
If you look at common opponents, the only advantage that Texas had was in beating West Virginia, and they did it without hitting a single three. They hounded West Virginia into 21 turnovers to their 11 as their guards had 11 steals. They took the game to WV. We didn't.
Other than that, we beat Tech in Norman worse than they did in Austin. We both handled Iowa State in Ames, a game in which they almost lost. We beat Kansas worse in Lawrence, despite the fact that Texas outrebounded them 61-35. They did do better against TCU.
It is interesting that Iowa State and West Virginia had more rebounds than Texas. If Texas can't dominate the boards against us, I like our chances.
